Telltale's Batman to release this summer20/3/2016 The developers shared a few details at the SXSW festival. Telltale are remaining tight-lipped when it comes to the villains, however, only stating that there will be more than one.
Batman will play in a similar way to the other Telltale games you know and love. Pierre Shorette, lead writer for the series remarked, "There are plenty of games out there that have explored what it is to feel like Batman, I think a Telltale series is going to give you an insight in what it's like to be Bruce day-to-day and see how that affects life as Batman". Players will be given the choice to deal with certain situations as either Batman or Bruce, with the decisions you make as one potentially having an effect on the other. The actions you take will shape the Gotham that Bruce deals with during the day and the criminals that Batman will encounter at night. The series will be set in its own Bat-universe completely removed from any comic books, films or tv shows. This means the writers can be as creative as they want without having to worry about continuity. It will also carry an 18 rating so we could see a darker, grittier Batman, which would fit in nicely with Telltale's M.O. Are you looking forward to seeing The Dark Knight given the Telltale treatment? Let us know in the forums News round-up for the week of 14 March18/3/2016 We're back with more of the week's other stories. RIGS, if you didn't know, is a sporty first person shooter with giant robots. Check out the trailer below. Staying with PlayStation, Sony have announced a PSVR bundle for North America. The bundle is exclusively for pre-order and includes:
You can pre-order from 22 March and the bundle is priced at $499.99 in the US and $699.99 in Canada. If you miss out on the limited run there will be another wave in summer. There's no word yet on a similar deal for Europe but we'll keep you posted. Fallout 4's season pass was briefly listed as free this morning on the PlayStation Store. The listing was up for around half an hour before being pulled by Sony. Many people grabbed it thanks to massive attention on social media, but whether it will be honored by Sony remains to be seen. In news that is sure to shock absolutely no-one, a Bioshock collection has been leaked again... again. This time it's courtesy of a Taiwanese game rating website. The collection will likely contain Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite and all DLC. There's no price or release date yet because it hasn't been officially confirmed - though at this point it’s a foregone conclusion that it exists, so they may well just announce it already, it's surely only a matter of time. A radical new trailer for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants In Manhattan has been released by Activision. The open world brawler features four player co-op and is due out 24 May. If you're looking for an extra Xbox One controller you might want to wait a little while. Major Nelson gave us the first look at two very fancy designs that will be available worldwide come April, the Dusk Shadow and Copper Shadow. What do you think? Let us know in the forums.
No, it’s not just another framerate argument exploding on an internet forum - this time it’s serious, warns Sony engineer Chris Norden, talking about the upcoming PlayStationVR: "Framerate is really important; you cannot drop below 60 frames per second, ever,". Norden went on to say, "If you submit a game to us and it drops to 55, or 51...we're probably going to reject it. I know I'm going to get flak for this, but there's no excuse for not hitting frame rate. Reaching 60fps isn't easy, but it's necessary."
In case anyone was unsure he also added, "60hz is the minimum acceptable framerate. Everybody drill that into your heads." Yikes. Anything below that level wouldn't run as smooth and could break immersion, a pretty essential thing when it comes to VR. It may mean we see developers start to focus less on graphical fidelity and more on framerate. While this shouldn't be too much of a problem with titles like Rez or Psychonauts don't expect to be wandering around Skyrim any time soon. The release date and price of Sony's VR headset was recently revealed, along with a few of the launch titles that will be on offer. Are you excited about VR? Scared of Chris Norden? To join in all you’ll need to do is download the beta from your console’s relevant digital store. Check out the trailer below for a look at some of the arcade style racing in store for beta participants. TrackMania Turbo will feature 200 tracks split into four unique environments and also includes a Trackbuilder tool for players to create and share their own courses. Or if you’re feeling slightly less creative you could always take advantage of the game’s random course generator for inspiration.
Turbo will also support split-screen action for up to four players (something of a rarity these days) as well as online multiplayer in a number of game modes, including a mode where two players are in control of one car. This is the first time the TrackMania series is going to feature on Xbox or PlayStation, with previous entries having only released on PC and various Nintendo consoles in the past. TrackMania Turbo releases on 24 March for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Be sure to keep an eye out on Pass The Controller for our upcoming review of the game. Sony’s PlayStation VR received a price point and release date during a presentation at the Game Developers Conference yesterday.
At £350, PlayStation VR may be a lot more appealing to some (especially those who already own a PS4) than that of rival VR headsets HTC VIVE and Oculus, due to their respective hefty price tags. With that in mind, it's worth noting that while PSVR comes bundled with all the relevant cables to hook it up to the console, it does not include the PlayStation Camera, a device which is necessary to the experience. You also won't get any PlayStation Move motion controllers, which, whilst optional, complete the immersive experience. Since the GDC event yesterday, PlayStation’s Worldwide Head of Studios Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed that there will be a PSVR bundle in North America that includes the PS Camera and a Move controller for those who don’t already own the peripherals needed to get the most out of the virtual reality headset. Currently no price for the bundle has been announced, or even whether it will be available in other regions, but keep an eye on PTC for further developments. More than 100 games are currently in the works by over 230 developers for PlayStation VR, with 50 planned for release alongside the launch of the headset in October. One of these will be Star Wars Battlefront Experience, a game that was confirmed to be in exclusive development for PSVR at the GDC event. The game will be based on DICE’s multiplayer shooter, but is described as a “cinematic gaming experience”. Let the speculation begin. We also got a first look at PlayStation VR Worlds, a Wii Sports like compilation of experiences to show off the new hardware. These include on-rails shooter The London Heist, shark cage diving simulator Into the Deep (working title), extreme sporting VR Luge and more. See it in action below. PSVR will also be compatible with non VR games on PS4, which can make use of the headset’s cinematic feature, a mode that allows regular games to be streamed to the device as a second screen should the TV be occupied or for a more private gaming experience.
With over 35 million PlayStation 4’s sold since it launched 3 years ago, Sony certainly has a large install base ready to make use of the headset come October. What do you make of the cost of PlayStation VR? Are you ready to jump into the VR craze, or taking a more reserved approach? Let us know over in the forums. Gears of War 4’s multiplayer beta arrives next month on Xbox One, and people who played either the console or Windows 10 versions of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will get a few days head start.
The open beta will be available to Xbox Live Gold members after the conclusion of the early access, and will run from 24 April – 1 May.
If you’d like to take part in the early access but haven’t got around to playing GoW: Ultimate Edition just yet, then there is still time to join in as Microsoft are extending the qualification period. All you need to do to qualify is simply log onto Xbox Live and play the game on either Windows 10 or Xbox One before 11 April. Looking forward to the return of Gears multiplayer? Let us know your thoughts in the forums. Cross-network play coming to Xbox One14/3/2016 Cross-network play is coming to Xbox One, Microsoft have announced.
“In addition to natively supporting cross-platform play between Xbox One and Windows 10 games that use Xbox Live, we’re enabling developers to support cross-network play as well. This means players on Xbox One and Windows 10 using Xbox Live will be able to play with players on different online multiplayer networks – including other console and PC networks.”
The decision to allow cross-network play will remain firmly with the developer, while Xbox Live users will be able to opt out of the feature in any game supporting cross-network play should they wish to do so. “Of course, it’s up to game developers to support this feature, and Xbox Live players will always have the option of choosing to play only with other Xbox Live players.” Psyonix’s Rocket League will be the first title to take advantage of cross-network play with PC and Xbox One users united for some multiplayer madness, with a standing invitation open to other networks to join in as well. Seeing as Rocket League already supports cross-network play between PC and PlayStation 4, could this be the first title we see uniting the two rival consoles? Let us know your thoughts on cross-network play and the possibilities it brings over in the forums. The trailer for Automatron, the first of Fallout 4's DLC has been revealed. Check out some of the possible combinations in the trailer below. You will need to have reached level 15 before you're able to start playing god with machine-kind.
The DLC releases 22 March and costs a modest £7.99, if you don’t already have the season pass. Next month will see the launch of the second content pack, Wasteland Workshop, with Far Harbor dropping in May. Far Harbor is the biggest landmass that Bethesda have created for post-release content. More add-ons will be coming throughout 2016 including free updates like Survival Mode and the Creation Kit, which will allow mods to be created on PC and shared with both PC and console players. The second episode launches on 29 March and is available for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, iOS and Android.

General Raam is the antagonist from the first Gears Of War and the third guest character to be introduced to Killer Instinct, after Halo's Arbiter and Battletoads' Rash.
Season 3 will launch with four characters; Rash, Arbiter, Kim Wu and Tusk. Another four fighters will become available as the season progresses. Eyedol and Gargos are the only two combatants from the original games not to be made playable, so there's a chance we could be seeing them. Also revealed by the leak was a new game mode titled Shadow Lords. No details have been released yet but with the latest season due at the end of the month it shouldn't be too long until we have some more info. Season 3 will be arriving on Xbox One and PC 29 March.
