California-based Cold Iron Studios have unveiled their debut title, Aliens: Fireteam, a cooperative third-person shooter set within the Alien universe. There are five classes to choose from - Gunner, Demolisher, Technician, Doc and Recon – and more than 30 weapons available (including the iconic Pulse Rifle and Smart Gun) which can be further modified with attachments.
An “innovative” perk system offers further refinement of playstyle by modifying and improving player abilities, while the game’s Challenge Card system is said to “offer a new experience with each playthrough” by altering the approach to each mission. The game also features over 20 enemy types, including Weyland-Yutani Synthetic foes and “11 different Xenomorphs along the evolutionary scale from Facehuggers to Praetorians.” Each enemy type has its own methods to try and outsmart players. There’s no solid release date just yet, though Aliens: Fireteam is targeting a summer 2021 release window for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC via Steam. What do you think of the game? Let us know below. Bethesda and Arkane Lyon have released a new video detailing the core gameplay mechanics of their “murder-puzzle” shooter, Deathloop. These eight targets will be spread across the four districts that make up the island at different times of the day, and it looks like players will have to learn more about their patterns and behaviours in order to take down multiple targets at once.
Hindering your progress is another assassin called Juliana, who will hunt players down and kill them “more than once.” With each death, the day resets, but players are said to be given the chance to keep their equipment, supernatural abilities and knowledge gained along the way. Although the time loop feature plays a prominent role, there is no timer, with players able to go at their own pace as they figure out how to “piece together the perfect loop to freedom.” Deathloop is out 21 May on PC and PS5 as a timed console exclusive. According to the trailer, the game will not be available on other platforms “until at least” 21 May next year. Let us know your thoughts on the video below or in the forums. |
