Just a few hours ago, Bungie, the studio behind the iconic Halo series, hosted a live stream in which they showed off some new gameplay footage of their upcoming first-person-shooter, Destiny 2. Destiny 2 has four new worlds for players to explore either solo or with companions, each boasting new features. These include Adventures, shorter missions with self-contained stories, scattered enemy dungeons known as Lost Sectors that each have their own unique bosses and treasures, and optional, dynamic Public Events that players can join on the fly.
The game’s new Director will allow players to pick a landing zone and explore an area and its offerings, as well as allowing them to “seamlessly jump into other activities in game.” Here’s the details on the four new areas:
Bungie also revealed some of Destiny 2’s multiplayer content, which includes a new game mode called Countdown. In this competitive, 4v4 mode, one team tries to plant a bomb and then defend it, while the other team tries to stop them. Players will only be able to revive a fallen teammate by using a Revive Token, and Power Ammo will only be available to the player that pulls it. Unlike the original game, Destiny 2 is set to release on PC as well as Xbox and PlayStation consoles, but instead of releasing on Steam, Activision will forgo Valve’s distribution platform in favour of Blizzard’s Battle.net service. The PC version of the game will feature 4K support, unlocked framerates, and full mouse and keyboard support with custom key mapping. Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment, said: “We're pleased to support Destiny 2 as the first non-Blizzard game on our platform, and we look forward to joining fellow Guardians in their fight against the Red Legion." Destiny 2 is out 8 September on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Let us know your thoughts on the livestream and new footage below. ENDED: This is the Police giveaway14/5/2017

Square Enix have announced they are looking for a buyer for IO Interactive, the development team behind the Hitman series. According to the note, Square Enix have already entered discussions with potential new investors, but said there are “no guarantees that negotiations will be concluded successfully”, leaving the future of Hitman and IO in some doubt.
Hitman isn’t the only franchise under operating under Square Enix’s umbrella to have its future cast into doubt after Mankind Divided’s less than stellar sales numbers led to the Deus Ex series being put on hold while Square Enix focusses on other projects, such as a new Tomb Raider and an unnamed Avengers game. What do you think this means for the future of Hitman? Let us know in the comments. Sources close to Kotaku are suggesting EA have decided to put the Mass Effect series on hiatus after Mass Effect: Andromeda’s bumpy launch earlier in the year. Remaining BioWare Montreal employees are said to be either working on Andromeda’s multiplayer, or supporting development of other BioWare titles, including the project currently operating under the codename Dylan, which is being headed up by the main studio in Edmonton.
As Kotaku point out, it is highly unlikely EA is killing off the Mass Effect series entirely, with the publisher seemingly keen to let the series “sit” for a while after the lukewarm reception of Andromeda. Let us know your thoughts on the future of Mass Effect below. Support Pass the Controller with CD Keys10/5/2017 If you’re reading this, then thank you. We’ve been a site for well over two years now and in that time we’ve grown our community, gained new team members and hopefully given you a few fun things to read, watch and listen to. Just by using a simple link which we’ll include in our articles and forum from time to time, you can help support us any time you happen to buy a digital product you were planning on buying anyway. Don’t worry, we won’t be running any advertorial, it’s more that we’ll say something like “if you fancy picking up the game, you can pre-order/buy it on CD Keys” at the end of a relevant article and link to their site.
Hopefully that sounds pretty reasonable. So, if you feel like helping us out, bookmark this link: http://www.cdkeys.com/?mw_aref=Passthecontroller (make sure you include the whole thing), and then the next time you buy something on there it will help to cover our running costs. Make sense? Shout out in the comments or feel free to contact me directly by email at james@passthecontroller.co.uk if you have any questions and, in the meantime, thank you very much for your support and we hope to bring you even more fun stuff as the busy E3 season approaches - keep your eyes peeled for our plans. Sega have revealed Vanquish is the next title of theirs to be getting a PC port via Steam, following on from Bayonetta’s debut on the platform last month. Vanquish was directed by the creator of the Resident Evil series, Shinji Mikami, and originally launched on Xbox 360 and PS3 back in 2010.
“It was great to see the positive response from our community to the Bayonetta PC launch last month, and we are pleased that we are in a position to be able to announce VANQUISH, another of our highly-requested back catalogue titles,” said John Clark, Senior Vice President of Commercial Publishing for SEGA Europe. “There’s more to come from SEGA in this space, so stay tuned for further announcements.” Will you be picking up Vanquish on PC this month? Let us know below, and be sure to check out what Sam thought of Bayonetta’s PC debut here. Next Assassin’s Creed images leaked9/5/2017 An image has cropped up online showing what appears to be a screenshot of the next Assassin’s Creed game, a franchise which has been on hiatus since 2015’s Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate.
The setting for the next Assassin’s Creed game is rumoured to be ancient Egypt, and the mission indicator in the corner of the screen shot, which says “Follow Shadya to Khenut's villa”, would seem to corroborate those rumours. Khenut was an Egyptian queen who lived during the Fifth dynasty, which was around 2500 – 2300 BC.
None of this leaked information has been confirmed by Ubisoft, but with E3 only a month away, we may not have long to wait before we get an official word from the publisher. Let us know your thoughts on the leaked image and the next Assassin’s Creed in the comments below or over in the forums. Agents of MAYHEM is out 15 August in North America and 18 August for all other regions, and is available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. ENDED: World to the West giveaway8/5/2017

Rogue Trooper Redux, a remaster of the 2006 shooter, Rogue Trooper, is currently in the works over at Rebellion, and the developer/publisher have given us our first look at how the remaster is coming along by showing off the updated Rogue model. According to Rebellion, the new-look Rogue is inspired by the “classic, slicker style” from the original 2000 AD Rogue Trooper comics, and has been built from the ground up using “current-gen quality materials and higher resolution geometry.”
Rogue Trooper Redux is out later this year on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. Let us know your thoughts on the remaster below or in the forums. |
