Deadlight: Director's Cut released today21/6/2016 The 2D survival-horror platformer is now available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The Nightmare difficulty mode removes mid-chapter checkpoints, but if you can get through it all you'll be treated to an alternate ending. The games features improved visuals - now running at 1080p on all systems - and includes Developer Diaries and a digital art book that can be accessed in game. Have a look at the launch trailer below: Make sure to keep an eye out for our upcoming review.
Did you play the original Deadlight? Is the new content enough to tempt you back for more? Let us know in the forums or comment below. The latest content drop for Fallout 4 is now available to download on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. There's some new prefabs to work with, including a warehouse, scaffolding and elevators. Conveyer belts can be snapped together to transport things around your settlement, and a ball track can be constructed to really give it that Rube Goldberg feel. If you aren't the creative type, or lack the knowledge to properly use a logic gate, there are some simpler things to keep you occupied. Armour and weapon racks can be used to store all those valuable items you'll never use, or you can proudly show them off in display cases. A fireworks launcher has also been added that will allow you to call for reinforcements or simply to amuse yourself. Posters can be placed on walls, and a pillory can be made if you wish to put your settlers in stocks. TheGamerPlug has put together a video giving us a brief glimpse of all the new additions: Contraptions Workshop can be yours for £3.99 if you don't own the game’s Season Pass. NeocoreGames have shared some info about their upcoming Action-RPG. As well as boasting a single player campaign set in an “abandoned fortress-monastery “Martyr”, which hides a terrible secret from the past of the Inquisition”, players can blaze their own trail in the open world game mode known as the Inquisitorial Campaign, which gives you the freedom to explore the persistent Caligari Sector, boasting thousands of randomly generated planets, moons and ships. You won't necessarily be alone in the expansive world, as the Inquisitorial Campaign supports four player co-op and allows you to join various clans. Unique world events and quest lines could potentially influence the future of the Caligari Sector you are tasked with patrolling. Check out the images below for a look at how the game is shaping up: You'll also be able to build and customise a fortress. Whilst it's not a direct PvP experience, raiding other fortresses is possible and will provide you with valuable loot, but make sure to upgrade your own in order to withstand any assaults. The game will also feature tactical elements partly thanks to the cover based combat system and environmental destruction, which you can get a taste of in the trailer below: To make the combat even more immersive, enemy AI has been reworked so that groups will have a leader responsible for coordinating attacks. Snipers will attempt to pick you off from behind cover, while the flankers will get in position to punish anyone who tries to advance.
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr is due for release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2017. Are you a fan of ARPGs? Will you be picking this up? Square Enix E3 round-up17/6/2016 The Japanese powerhouse of gaming that is Square Enix opted not to do a traditional press event this year, making it all the more difficult to summarise their multi-day 'Square Enix Presents' streamed content in a nutshell (you’re welcome). Elsewhere there was more to say about some of the games we've already got our hands on, including HITMAN, Just Cause 3 and celebrating Lara Croft’s 20th anniversary. The stream also explored the Minecraft-like Dragon Quest Builders, which gets players to create and battle enemies in the Dragon Quest universe, all in a fairly cartoony style. We also got more details on the recently announced mobile game Deus Ex Go and, in particular, Deus Ex Mankind Divided. That live action trailer set the scene before the team played through a Dubai-set level in ‘aggressive’ (i.e. lots of killing), stealth and ‘adaptive’ (a bit of both) stances. Our favourite augmented sunglasses-wearer, Adam Jensen, is planning to stop a smuggling deal in the abandoned ruins of a half-built hotel. There are abundant signs that this is not the same world as we saw in Human Revolution, two years having passed and a major augment incident having occurred. The gold colour scheme's a lot more muted as well. A few new augmentations were showcased, including the Tesla gun arm, which non-lethally disables up to four enemies, in addition to a stun gun, which serves as a more close range immobiliser. Hacking is back and there's more depth to it this time around, making it less forgiving and more tactical than it was before. One interesting concept, used in HR but not made the most of, is that the time you spend on certain parts of the mission will have an effect on its outcome, for example an incoming sandstorm may hit and impact your escape if you don’t finish the mission quickly. In all the game looks very promising, which is reassuring since originally it would have already been released by now. Watch the mission in full below in a clip from IGN (since Square haven't uploaded the gameplay separately). Another title which has some people excited is Mighty No. 9, the Kickstarter-backed project which is spiritually related to well known 8-bit icon Megaman. The game has a fairly friendly art style and slightly eccentric presentation, but overall should provide some tried-and-tested platforming action when it releases on Tuesday, 21 June. Aside from an overall trailer montage which highlighted some of the other games on Square’s slate, there was more from Kingdom Hearts, including a promise of more information on Kingdom Hearts 3 this winter, and Deep Silver’s recently revealed Agents of Mayhem, which shows it as living up to its name with some personality - definitely one to keep an eye on. Have you kept up with any of Square Enix’s streams? Leave us a comment or chat about it in the forums, and don’t forget to check out our E3 podcast, coming to an internet near you very soon!
Microsoft E3 round-up16/6/2016 At Microsoft's E3 briefing the much-rumoured Xbox One S was officially announced. The console is 40% smaller, comes with HDR and 4K video support and will only support connect with a very complicated adapter. If you want a new controller to go with your console, you could always design your own. There are over 8 million different combinations of colours, so there's something to suit everyone. Three new additions to Xbox Live are on the way. Clubs will allow players to create communities and find others with similar interests. Looking For Group will enable to find players with a similar goal in mind, like nailing that last co-op achievement. Arena is all about tournaments; SMITE, Worlds of Tanks and Fifa will be the first games to support Arena. On to the games now and it was Gears of War 4 which kicked off the show. The ever-popular Horde mode returns, and we saw a short section of a mission from the co-op campaign. Another co-op highlight was Scalebound. The multiplayer gameplay trailer showed players teaming up to take down a giant crab-like creature. You'll be able to connect with friends in an entirely different way in Forza Horizon 3. A multiplayer demo showing off some of the various environments and vehicles followed the E3 trailer: Dead Rising 4 will also feature four player co-op when Frank West returns to Willamette this Christmas. Set 16 years after the original, Frank is just as snap-happy as ever. Take a look: There's even more zombie bashing goodness to look forward to, as State of Decay 2 was announced. The most requested feature of the original was a co-op mode. Undead Labs have been listening and the sequel will allow up to four friends to roam together. Catch the trailer below: Those who prefer blasting aliens over chopping zombies will be happy to know that Halo Wars 2 is coming our way and there's a multiplayer beta running until 20 June. Here's a look at the E3 trailer: If you're looking for something a little more light-hearted, Rare's highly anticipated, nautical adventure, Sea of Thieves, was shown off in style. Some lucky fans got to go hands-on with the title for the gameplay reveal. See the trailer and gameplay below: Action adventure title, ReCore, was given a new trailer which introduced us to Joule Adams and her merry group of robot companions: ReCore wasn't the only single player action game to be shown some love. A demo of Final Fantasy XV gameplay was shown, which showcases the lush graphics, battle system, and a hulking great beast that serves as one of the game's bosses. To celebrate the release of Inside at the end of the month, developers Playdead are giving you the chance to download their previous game, Limbo, absolutely free, for a limited time. Catch the trailer for Inside below: If fighting games are more your thing, Tekken 7 is on its way to Xbox One. There's even more to shout about as Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is also free for a limited time. We Happy Few will be coming to Xbox One and Windows 10 this summer. The E3 trailer reveals that everything is not as it seems in this alternate version of 1960's England. To end on a happier note, the much loved card game from The Witcher 3 will getting a standalone release. The E3 trailer for Gwent isn't packed with details but there's not much to say. You may have noticed that an Xbox Play Anywhere banner appeared on some videos. The feature will allow game sharing between Xbox One game and Windows 10 PC, with saves and achievements carrying over. What did you think of Microsoft's presentation? Anything appeal to you? Let us know in the forums or comment below.
Ubisoft E3 round-up16/6/2016 Ubisoft's E3 show started with a scene from an LSD fuelled nightmare. The folks dressed as a lion, a giraffe and a panda were arguably the least ridiculous looking, as a bunch of dancers moved about to Queen's Don't Stop Me Now. Before long, Aisha Tyler appeared on stage and made the bad people go away, so we could start proper. If you're the curious type, have a look at what happened. First up was Ghost Recon Wildlands. The open world shooter has a new cinematic trailer which you can see below: We were then treated to gameplay footage of a mission, in which the objective is to capture a key member of the cartel. It seems like this mission was chosen to show off as many different elements of the game as possible. Have a gander: There was DLC news for Ubisoft's other open world shooter, The Division. In the the second expansion, Survival, agents will have to... survive, in a hostile environment with brutal weather conditions. See the trailer below: It seemed like Ubisoft had yet another futuristic shooter up its sleeve. As pictures of rioting and crime figures were shown, a voice over told us all about the sad state of the world, only to reveal... We didn't see that coming. In South Park: The Fractured But Whole, the boys have started playing super heroes, but not everyone is happy with Cartman's plans. The fighting system has been tweaked; you can now move around to get behind cover or gain a better position, and push and pull your enemies, sending them into objects or team mates for extra damage. All copies will come with a remastered version of The Stick of Truth, which you can access right now if you pre-order. Ubi were keen to show off a couple of VR titles. Eagle Flight VR was first to take the stage. We got to see some multiplayer gameplay in which two teams of three try to capture the 'prey', a random animal in a random location, and return it to their base. It's not as easy as it sounds though because eagles have guns now. You can see the multiplayer gameplay below: Star Trek: Bridge Crew, the second VR showing, puts you aboard the USS Aegis, where you'll fill the role of Captain, Helm, Tactical or Engineer. It features both solo and co-op play. If you can find three friends with the same VR systems - who don't mind taking orders from you, as you do your best Patrick Stewart impression - it could be a lot of fun. Otherwise, you can watch some of the Star Trek cast trying out out below: We then jumped backwards through time to see some action from For Honor. A cinematic trailer introduced us to the story: It appears to take some cues from Ryse: Son of Rome but looks like an altogether more complete experience, as you can see in the gameplay video below: You can sign up for the alpha to be in with a chance of getting hands on before its release. The charming Grow Up was then revealed, a sequel to physics based performer Grow Home. You'll play as a small robot named B.U.D as he throws down seeds and uses plants to bounce, shoot, and catapult himself to new heights. Catch the trailer below: If platformers aren't your thing, there's a new Trials game which is out now, strangely inspired by FarCry DLC, Blood Dragon. Trials of the Blood Dragon will feature the Trials gameplay you know and love, but with ultra-neon visuals and guns, as you can see in the trailer: On to Ubisoft's triple A line up and a frantic gameplay trailer for Watch Dogs 2. The title looks a lot smoother than its predecessor. There's more gadgets to play with this time around and more ways to create chaos with your smartphone. A gameplay video took us through one of the missions: There was no news on the next Assassin's Creed game but given that it isn't due for release until after 2017's E3 event, it's not too surprising. We were, however, given a brief behind-the-scenes glimpse at the upcoming film: Ubisoft ended their showcase with a new IP, Steep. Snowboarding, skiing and wing-suiting are the order of the day, as you explore the snowy Alps. The open world, action sports title will be filled with challenges and activities to participate in alone, or with others. There's more details in the gameplay video: If you're interested in trying it out before release, you can sign up to the beta.

Sony E3 round-up15/6/2016 Sony took to the stage in their usual late time slot on Monday night to share a cavalcade of exciting software. No release date was announced, but returning God of War II game director Cory Barlog has bee a little sheepish on the subject. That likely means it's coming sooner, or later, than we think.
The latest 'game' from David Cage and the folks at Quantic Dream, Detroit: Become Human, followed with a trailer that drew from both Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls whilst showcasing the game's detective sleuthing. Another story of man vs. machine morality, point your peepers at the trailer below.
Final Fantasy XV also revealed a PSVR experience, the announcement accompanied new footage of the main game that somewhat redeemed the dodgy gameplay demo that had appeared on Microsoft's stage earlier that same day. Another multiplatform game with exclusive PSVR support is the freshly announced and ingeniously titled Resident EVII. It's the return to survival horror we were promised that, let's be honest, owes a lot to the cancelled P.T. Played from a first-person perspective and with no weapons on show, it takes the series in a totally new and fresh direction. Releasing 24 January 2017, in a move that further apes P.T., there's a demo available now on the PlayStation Store. Whilst you wait for it to download, why not watch the trailer:
Whereas most didn't want to see CoD take the stage, fans had been clamouring for what followed - in part, anyway. Crash Bandicoot will return to PlayStation in remastered versions of the first, second and third games, as well as appearing as a guest character in Skylanders. Just as Resident EVII channelled P.T., so to does Hideo Kojima's giant middle finger to Konami. Emerging to a hero's welcome, Kojima exclaimed "I'm back!" before sharing the reveal trailer for Death Stranding. Once again starring The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus and a fetus - Norman Fedus, as some have dubbed the duo - the bizarre footage is best seen for oneself. It definitely has that distinctive Kojima flavour... It had been rumoured going into E3 that Infamous developer Sucker Punch might be working on an exclusive Spider-Man game, and whilst that didn't pan out, that's only because Insomniac are bringing it to fruition instead! Likely carrying their experience with Sunset Overdrive to the table, it looks like another superhero is finally getting the video game treatment they deserve. Sony's conference closed with a gameplay demo of debuting Days Gone, in which you play a biker caught up in a World War Z scale zombie apocalypse. It looks very Last of Us again, which after Uncharted and God of War heading in that direction does raise the issue of diversity in the PlayStation line-up. Regardless of that, it does look pretty stonking.
Sony had a great showing this year, with an enthralling conference full of pleasant surprises. You can read up on EA and Bethesda's efforts now, whilst Ubisoft and Microsoft round-ups are still to come. What did you think? Let us know in the forums or in the comments below. Keep an eye (and an ear) out for the upcoming first PTC podcast, in which the team will go in depth on their E3 2016 opinions. EA Play round-up15/6/2016 The EA Play event was hosted by Andrew Wilson - who is almost certainly not a synth - and whilst there was a focus on all things sports, we also got to see some footage of other games that are in the works. Have a look for yourself: A multiplayer trailer was released which shows new weapons, for both titans and pilots, as well as a fancy grappling hook, which can be used offensively. Next up, we had Mass Effect Andromeda, which promises to be bigger and better than its predecessors and offer more freedom than has ever been given in a Bioware game, all powered by the Frostbite engine. Andromeda is set in a whole new galaxy in which humans are alien, so it naturally features an all new cast. With the exception of one fan favourite, that is - the Mako. Not much else was revealed but there's a new cinematic trailer to get you hyped up, which you can watch below: Sticking with the space theme, we know that EA have a few Star Wars titles in development from various studios including DICE, Visceral and Respawn. Battlefront 2 is scheduled to launch next year and Respawn's action-adventure title sometime in 2018. The latter will feature lightsaber battles, which is all anyone wants from a Star Wars game. Have a look at the future of Star Wars: Of course, Battlefield 1 was the star of the show. The WW1 era shooter will feature tanks, horses, bi-planes, zeppelins and, of course, shovels. Apparently, no battle will be the same thanks to the heightened destruction and dynamic weather that will change unpredictably. Judge for yourself: We'll have more for you as E3 progresses, including the first PTC podcast.
Did you watch the EA Play event? What did you think? Let us know in the forums or comment below. Bethesda E3 round-up14/6/2016 Bethesda kicked off their presentation in a huge way by introducing us to Quake Champions.
Unfortunately the title is PC only. More will be revealed at QuakeCon in August. Until then, you can watch the trailer below: On the subject of DOOM, there’s some DLC on the way. The first pack, Unto The Evil, contains new maps, a new playable demon, a new weapon and new armour. Whilst there was no single player DLC announced, new modes will also be coming to multiplayer. For a limited time you can download a demo of DOOM, which grants free access to the first level. Next on the DLC list is Fallout 4, which will receive another three add-ons. The first, Contraptions Workshop, will allow you to construct Rube Goldberg machines for your settlements, as well as conveyor belts, lifts, weapon and armour racks, and greenhouse kits. The second, Vault-Tec Workshop, enables the construction and customisation of vaults. You'll also be able to experiment on your vault dwellers. The third is a story based expansion. Nuka-World is set in a raider inhabited amusement park and adds new quests, weapons and armour. Fallout 4 didn’t hog all the love, as the Fallout Shelter mobile game will be getting a huge update and coming to PC. Bethesda also teased that a VR version of Fallout 4 will be launching on the HTC Vive next year. If you're wondering how the latest entry in Bethesda’s other big RPG series, The Elder Scrolls, will look on the current generation of consoles, then look no further. Skyrim is receiving the remaster treatment with improved visuals, all DLC, and yes, official mod support. Watch the video below for more info on Fallout 4 and Skyrim: There’s more Elder Scrolls news as The Elder Scrolls Online will be getting a new update that allows players from different factions to party up and explore Tamriel together. There will also be a new quest line offered by everyone's favourite assassins, The Dark Brotherhood. See the trailer below: A re-imagining of Prey is set to release in 2017. Bethesda took to a blog post to explain the new direction in which developer Arkane Studios are taking the title: "You are Morgan Yu, the subject of morally dubious experiments designed to improve the human race. You awaken aboard the Talos 1 in the year 2032 and must uncover the secrets hiding in the depths of the space station while being hunted by the mysterious alien force that has taken over. You’ll have to rely on the tools you find on the station – along with your wits, weapons and mind-bending abilities – to combat the growing threat and, hopefully, survive." More info will be released during QuakeCon, but until then, you can catch the trailer below. Arkane dominated the show with another standout moment being Dishonored 2. This time we're promised even more vertically, and more ways to take out - or sneak past - your enemies. You'll play as either Corvo or Emily, each with their own set of upgradeable abilities but equally as competent when it comes to dispatching foes or bypassing them altogether. There's still a lot more to come from E3 over the next week, including the first PTC podcast. If you want to share your thoughts on E3 as it happens, you can find the latest streams and live chat on our homepage.
