Hack Modules, which applied temporary bonuses once activated, have been dumped in favour of a new Runes System, which add persistent abilities more in line with standard multiplayer perk systems. The game’s UI has been tweaked, meaning it’ll now be easier to see who killed you, and what loadout they were using when they did it.
Bethesda have also changed how players level up and unlock new items. Instead of relying on the previous random unlock system, players will now unlock equipment via specific levelling requirements or through challenges, making it easier to target a certain piece of equipment you’re after. Introducing the new system means everyone’s multiplayer levels are getting reset, but veteran players will have the opportunity to keep hold of all their previously unlocked gear should they wish to do so. Bethesda will also be rewarding players who have been around from the beginning with special badges. Those who have yet to sample Bethesda’s DOOM reboot can do so this month thanks to a couple of free weekends. Xbox One and PC players can go hands on with the game’s multiplayer and opening two campaign missions from today, with PS4 players able to do the same when their free weekend kicks off next Thursday 27 July. The game will be on sale during those times at the discounted price of $14.99(US)/£11.99(UK)/$17.99(AUS). What do you think of DOOM’s new multiplayer system? Let us know below. Aaron Flynn quits Bioware19/7/2017 The Bioware General Manager has announced that he will be leaving the studio at the end of the month. Hudson was the project director for the Mass Effect series and was involved with the upcoming Anthem from the very beginning. Flynn will be spending his last couple of weeks getting his replacement up to speed.
"I have been contemplating changes in my own life for some time, but when I heard that Casey had confirmed he was up for the task, I realized the opportunities before us. I will be working with him over the next couple of weeks to help catch him up and do my part to set him up for success to be the best GM he can be." Over the course of his 17 years with the company, Aaron worked on some of Bioware's biggest titles, including the Dragon Age series, Mass Effect 2 and 3, and Andromeda. He ended the blog post with a message to fans: "In closing, let me thank our players for everything they’ve given us over these many years, and to say from the bottom of my heart how important you are to me and the rest of BioWare. I have gone to work every day knowing that I am fortunate to have all of the opportunities I have had at BioWare because of you. Doing whatever I could to help our developers create some of the best games in the industry for you all has been the most humbling experience of my life. Now, I’ll be playing BioWare’s games in the future from an exciting new perspective – yours." Yesterday's leak suggesting a new Batman series was in the works at Telltale turned out to be correct, and the studio managed to surprise us all by announcing a new series of The Wolf Among Us. Batman: The Enemy Within releases 8 August. Episode 1, The Enigma, sees The Riddler return to terrorise Gotham City with puzzles that foreshadow an even greater threat. There's also a ruthless federal agent and a certain recurring nemesis to deal with. Both Batman and Bruce will face tough decisions as they navigate uneasy alliances and it's up to you to decide which allies can be trusted.
Telltale have confirmed that next year's The Walking Dead will once again focus on Clementine as the lead role. With a working title of "The Final Season", we can only hope that things end well for the fan favourite character. Since it’s conclusion in 2014, the developer has been inundated with requests for a follow up to The Wolf Among Us. The team have been listening and, whilst there's no firm release date or title just yet, season 2 is planned to debut in the second half of 2018. Unfortunately, we won't get anything further on the cryptic ending of the first series. It was, and forever will be, left open to interpretation. We will get a brand new story to get stuck into, though. Which series are you most looking forward to? Let us know over in the forums or the comments below. Tricky Towers, the physics-based multiplayer game in which up to four players compete to build the tallest tower, is coming to Xbox One later this year. As well as news of the games impending arrival on Xbox One, WeirdBeard also shared details of Tricky Towers’ latest DLC, the Indie Friends Pack, which is available from today.
As the name suggests, the Indie Friends Pack adds a number of characters from fellow indie titles for use in-game, including the “rad(ioactive) Fish from Nuclear Throne, heavy metal Clunk from Awesomenauts, totally regular parent Octodad, Wolf Clan representative Thane from Armello, tap dancing Candy Man from Lethal League, and last but not least, the Last of the Order from TowerFall.” The Indie Friends Pack is available now from PlayStation Store and Steam for €2,99 (or regional equivalent) and if you own Awesomenauts, Armello, Octodad, Nuclear Throne or Lethal League you’ll get a 10% discount per game. Co-founder of WeirdBeard Games, Niels Monshouwer, reckons the addition of other notable characters from the indie scene is a great way to treat fans of the indie genre. “As indie developers share their love of making games, so do indie fans share a love of playing indie games,” he said, “so this DLC seemed like a perfect way to bring everyone together.’’ Are you looking forward to seeing Tricky Towers coming to Xbox One? Will you be picking up the latest DLC? Let us know below. Watch the JackHammer announce trailer18/7/2017 Developer Mission Ctrl Studios have revealed their first project, a first-person arena shooter called JackHammer. Features include:
This is a game which requires "lightning fast reaction times and pure skill" according to Gary Rowe, EVP Publishing at Green Man Gaming. However, as mentioned by Eurogamer, Harrington also plays Kroger in Tales from the Borderlands and TorqueDawg in Telltale's Minecraft: Story Mode, as well as a few other characters from various series.
He also provides the voice of Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, which Telltale's Job Stauffer was quick to point out. In a recent AMA on Reddit, Stauffer confirmed that there were no plans for a sequel to TWAU at present: "While we cannot announce anything here and now or today, and wouldn't dare get anyone's hopes up too high or speak out of synch with our partners at DC/WB/Vertigo --- what we can is this: "WE HEAR YOU!" "We have also been asked over and over again for some insight into the mystery at the end of the finale for TWAU. Something I've always wanted to admit is that while we do have a clear answer to who was who at the end of that story... we had also agreed to keep it a mystery for the fans to ponder on their own. Definitely fun to see all of the theories pour out, and exciting to pay off our neon-noir story with a femme fatale twist. Should we ever continue in the world of Fables and The Wolf Among Us... it is generally agreed upon here that we wouldn't continue that storyline directly, and would leave things an open mystery that's better left unanswered...." He also had this to say when asked about a follow up to Tales from the Borderlands: "While there are currently no plans for us to continue the story on the Telltale side, we do know that our friends at Gearbox and 2K are hard at work on what's next for the Borderlands universe. We know that also means if anything happens Rhys, Fiona and the gang... the ball is in their court to see whether they will or will not be explored again in any possible future entry into that universe. We're big fans of Borderlands as well, obviously, so here's hoping Tales isn't the last we'll ever see of those characters!" A Neogaf user believes that the teaser could be related to a listing on the New Zealand Film and Labelling Body website for Batman: The Enemy Within - Season Pass. It's directed by Kent Mudle, a director at Telltale Games who has previously worked on Telltale’s The Walking Dead: Michonne and Game of Thrones series. We should find out more during San Diego Comic Con which runs from 20 - 23 July. Were you hoping for Bigby's return? Looking forward to more Batman? Let us know below or over in the forums. |
