The update, which is free to all who own Rare's seafaring adventure, it's set to launch at the end of the month, and will add new features and a time-limited campaign. The Brigantine, a new ship specifically designed for a crew of three, is being added alongside an Alliance system, allowing players to band together to tackle greater challenges and share the rewards.
Fans of the game's lore may be interested to know that things are afoot with the shopkeepers in Sea of Thieves and "a tale of ambition and greed escalating into something truly terrible will come to light in Cursed Sails." The first details of this story can be read online in the Pirate Times. The time-limited campaign that introduces the new elements in Cursed Sails offers up some in-game rewards for those who are victorious. If you happen to miss out, fear not, as the Brigantine ship, the Alliance system and the crews of marauding skellies are permanent additions to the game. If you're still undecided on Sea of Thieves, check out our review. Cursed Sails releases 31 July. Are you looking forward to teaming up with friends to take on the undead pirates? Originally a comic series created by Gerry Finley-Day and Dave Gibbons, Rogue Trooper follows the story of a genetically engineered soldier out to avenge his massacred squad, carrying their personalities with him via combat chips in his helmet, weapon and pack.
The most recent adaptation outside of the pages was the 2006 Rogue Trooper game, which itself saw a re-release last year with updated visuals for today’s consoles as Rogue Trooper Redux. “For years now, I have felt a sting as Marvel and DC have poured out their entire comic roster into film. Wonderful for their fans, but every new release I silently scream “Where’s all the 2000 AD?!” Said Jones. “I'm so excited to finally be able to right that wrong and bring Finley-Day and Gibbons’ Rogue Trooper, a seminal British spun war yarn, to the big screen!" Jason Kingsley, CEO and Creative Director of Rebellion, said: “Rogue Trooper has always been one of my favourite old school thrills from 2000 AD. I’m very happy to be working closely with Duncan and Stuart on this project and look forward to seeing the results on the silver screen.” While Chris Kingsley, Co-founder and CTO of Rebellion, praised Jones’ level of passion for the project: “The first time I met Duncan he had a Mohawk – I’m tickled pink to see he’s now brought it back with a full-on Nu blue.” Both Jason and Chris will serve as Executive Producers on the as-of-yet unnamed project. How do you think Rogue Trooper will fare on the big screen? Let us know below. ENDED: The Long Dark giveaway16/7/2018
