TaleWorlds Entertainment have shared the first gameplay video of Captain Mode, the multiplayer component of Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. The game starts with a number of flags that teams can capture, which will be removed over time until only one remains. Holding flags will deplete your opponent's dominance score and once it reaches zero they are eliminated. Each type of unit will have their own strengths and weaknesses. For example, light infantry are good at defending flags and supporting other units, heavy infantry are better armoured but fewer in number. Captain Mode requires more than just commanding troops, players will have to show their own fighting prowess. There's an updated combat system with a new engine and improvements to the animations. If you're new to the series, check out what Sam thought of Mount & Blade: Warband in our review.
