CI Games have announced the latest instalment in their Sniper Ghost Warrior series. Secondary objectives, along with the ability to tackle missions in multiple ways, are said to add replayability, and the game also gives players the chance to earn more money by completing contracts more than once.
“We were too ambitious in terms of the scope of Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, but we’ve learned from our missteps,” said CI Games Chief Executive Officer, Marek Tymiński. “Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts will be more focused on emergent gameplay with an open-ended mission design that the team feels strong about, but it will not be set in an open world.” “It is going to be a more tactical, more condensed experience and the game will offer plenty of replayability, both on the single player campaign and on the multiplayer modes.” According to CI Games, Contracts “distils the core sniping gameplay” the series is known for and combines it with maps that reward tactical thinking. Targets can be taken down in hundreds of ways, and players will also need to contest the harsh modern-day Siberian landscape. Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts will release sometime in 2019 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Koch Media, a subsidiary of THQ Nordic, have acquired all rights and intellectual property tied to two classic franchises. “The original games gave fans a massive content offer and provided a pure and genuinely fun arcade shooter experience. We have many fans of the Timesplitters series among our own staff who are passionate about creating a product that will thrill todays gaming audience.”
The company also announced the acquisition of the Second Sight IP. The original game was released back in 2004 and followed the story of an American parapsychology researcher and featured a mix of stealth and gun gameplay. Both series were originally conceived by the studio Free Radical Design, who eventually went on to become Deep Silver Dambuster – best known for Homefront: The Revolution – who are also a part of Koch Media. While no new instalments for the two franchises have been announced just yet, more details on future projects will be revealed “in due course”.
