Bethesda and id Software are celebrating the arrival of DOOM Eternal’s final piece of DLC – The Ancient Gods Part Two – with a new trailer.
Part Two introduces new locations such as ancient Sentinel settlements, an overgrown Earth city that hides a “mysterious gateway” and the “cosmic wonders” of the World Spear.
New enemy types will also be making an appearance, including the armoured Baron, the Stone Imp and a Screecher Zombie that’s said to empower nearby demons when it’s killed. The Ancient Gods Part Two is out today, 18 March, on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Stadia. The expansion is available at no extra cost to those who own the DOOM Eternal Deluxe Edition or the Year One Pass, while it can also be bought as a standalone purchase. It also sounds like players will be able to utilise vehicles in some way.
In addition to varying types of Foot Clan, players will be going up against baddies ranging from Triceraton Warriors and Rock Troops to the iconic Bebop, Rocksteady and Shredder. Sony have shared some tentative details about their “next-generation VR system” that’s coming to the PS5 at some point in the next few years. It sounds like the Move controllers utilised by the original PS VR are no more, with the new headset said to be getting its own “future-proof” VR controller that will incorporate some of the features found in the PS5’s DualSense pad while also maintaining a focus on “great ergonomics.”
While developers are already said to be working on new games for Sony’s next VR system, the blog, which you can read in full, goes on to confirm that the headset will not be launching this year, though more details will be shared at some point in the future. So, while it’s not the full, wireless reveal I boldly predicted earlier in the year, there’s still a chance we’ll get to see more on Sony’s latest foray into VR later in the year. The upgrade is free for players who own the PS4 or Xbox One versions of the game, but only when upgrading to the corresponding generation (PS4 to PS5, for example). The upgrade also won’t work if you own the physical copy of the game on Xbox One or PS4 and are trying to then upgrade to Xbox Series S or PS5 Digital Edition console, however, due to the latter pairs' lack of disc drives, though owners of the digital versions will still be eligible for it. Also arriving the same day as the next-gen upgrade is Clint Barton, aka, Hawkeye, the latest playable character being added to the game’s roster of superheroes. Operation: Hawkeye – Future Imperfect, will be available for free across all platforms and includes new story content, Hawkeye himself, and a new villain called Maestro, who’s described as “a version of Hulk with Bruce Banner’s brains and the Hulk’s strengths and abilities, now driven mad in an apocalyptic future.” Are you looking forward to the new content and next-gen upgrade?
