Destiny 2 reveal: trailer, release date, special editions and more announced by Bungie

As was promised earlier in the week, Bungie have given Destiny fans another look at their highly-anticipated sequel in today’s reveal trailer. The developer also confirmed the game will be coming to PC, and revealed the contents of the various special editions available for pre-order.

In Destiny 2, Earth’s only safe city has been attacked by Ghaul, leader of the brutal Red Legion. Stripped of their power, players must take their Guardian on a journey across “unexplored worlds” to find new weapons and combat abilities (and of course, lots of loot) in order to take back Humanity’s last home.

Destiny 2 will be a “new beginning for every player,” according to Bungie, who have promised to provide more details about the game over the coming months, starting with a gameplay reveal on 18 May.
 
Three special editions of the game are currently available for pre-order, as well as an expansion pass which includes access to two expansions that include “brand new story missions, cooperative activities, competitive multiplayer, and a wealth of new weapons, armor, and gear.”
 
The special editions and their contents are:
 

• Collector’s Edition: Destiny 2 base game, expansion pass, customisable Destiny 2 Frontier Bag, Limited Edition SteelBook Case, Frontier kit featuring Solar panel USB charger with built-in light, Paracord, Solar blanket
• Limited Edition: Destiny 2 base game, expansion pass, Limited Edition SteelBook Case, Cabal-themed Collector’s Box containing a Booklet with secrets into the Cabal Empire, Cabal Schematic, Collectible Postcard Images, Cabal Military Pawns
• Digital Deluxe Edition: Destiny 2 base game, expansion pass

 
All three special editions come with the Premium Digital Content bundle, which includes a Legendary Sword, the Legendary Player Emote and the Cabal Empire Themed Emblem.
 
Anyone who pre-orders the game will be granted first access to game’s open beta, which is set to take place sometime this summer, Bungie announced.
