Fallout 76's human NPC-adding Wastelanders update gets April release date

Bethesda have revealed the release date for Fallout 76’s upcoming Wastelanders update, which adds human NPCs, new factions and quests.

The free update was originally supposed to launch late last year but was delayed in order to give the studio more time to ensure it was “the best, most polished” it could be. Wastelanders introduces a number of features fans have been calling for, including human NPCs and dialogue trees. It also adds new factions, new storylines and missions, and a revamped original main quest.

Players will be able to “befriend or betray” the new inhabitants that have come to settle in Appalachia, with decisions said to affect your standing with each faction thanks to an “all-new” reputation system.

​As well as human arrivals, a few more mutated creatures have made their way to the region, with the “highest tier” of weapons and armour handed out to those who can take them down.

Wastelanders is out 7 April as a free update for Fallout 76 owners on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The date also marks the arrival of the game on Steam for the very first time.
