Bulkhead Interactive have given backers their first proper look at Battalion 1944 in action with a new gameplay video. Bulkhead, who recently partnered up with Square Enix for publishing assistance, have been “completely and utterly rebuilding the unreal engine” in order to ensure Battalion 1944 moves and feels like an old-school FPS, with 1 to 1 movement and aiming mechanics.
“Battalion has always been about bringing back the 'feel' of classic shooters which peaked in the era of the early CoD titles,” said Howard Philpott, Creative Producer at Bulkhead Interactive. “This is what Battalion is aiming to recapture from that era. True skill based mechanics to allow players who are good at the game to push the skill ceiling higher. We miss those classic FPS days before unlocks/killstreaks. These classic games were by no means bad, they've just not been remade for the current generation yet.” A closed alpha will be available on PC this May to select backers and those who pre-ordered through Steam/Humble, and the game will also be making an appearance at this weekend’s EGX Rezzed event.
