Mortal Kombat 11 out now, three editions available - Pass the Controller

Mortal Kombat 11 has launched today on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, promising the "most personalised Mortal Kombat experience ever." A Nintendo Switch version is set to follow on 10 May.

The time-bending story brings together characters from throughout the franchise's 25-year history, as current combatants clash with their past selves and new fighters are introduced for the first time.

Readers under 18 should probably skip the trailer below (and the game itself, thinking about it).
Alongside the standard version, players can opt for one of two special editions.

The Premium Edition (£79.99 RRP) features:

  • Base game
  • Kombat Pack
  • One week early access to DLC characters
  • Seven exclusive character skins
  • Seven sets of gear

The Kollector's Edition (£279.99 RRP) includes:

  • Base game
  • Kombat Pack
  • Scorpion mask bust
  • Exclusive steel case
  • Commemorative magnet coin
  • Authenticity plate

The Kombat Pack will add a total of six DLC characters, including Shang Tsung. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (who played the sorcerer in the 1998 cult-classic film) is lending his voice and likeness to the character.

"The entire team at NetherRealm Studios has been hard at work on Mortal Kombat 11, and we’re excited to see players around the world finally get their hands on the game,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios.

"Mortal Kombat 11 introduces more ways to customize their favourite fighters than ever before, new gameplay modes, franchise-first characters and of course our time-bending new story that both fans and new players will enjoy.”
