New images released for The Surge25/5/2016 Lords of the Fallen developer, Deck13, have released some screens for their next action-RPG, The Surge. The Surge is set in a near future version of Earth, and is a grim look at the worst possible outcome for humanity. Resources are scarce and human labour has been largely replaced by robots, forcing many citizens to seek work in the suburbs and using exoskeletons to improve their performance. Expect Souls-like combat with blocking, countering and dodging being vital to your survival. However, one thing that sets it apart from Dark Souls is the limb targeting system. By using the right stick it’s possible to attack the chest, or a specific arm or leg. A well placed strike to an exposed area could quickly turn the fight to your favour; a one armed opponent won't have as many attacking options. Aiming your strikes at the most heavily armoured section of your enemies will have it's benefits too, as salvaged parts from your slain foes can be used to upgrade your own exo-suit. Here's some pre-alpha footage of the combat, courtesy of PCGamesN. The Surge is set to release in 2017 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, and you expect more details to emerge from E3 next month.
