Square Enix today announced that Nintendo Switch owners can get a taste of the the latest platform-adventure game in the Spelunker series, SPELUNKER PARTY!, before its release and shared details on what it's all about.

Awoken one night by a deafening rumbling sound, Spelunkette gazes out of her window to see a bright light streaking across the sky. As it disappears beyond the horizon, she hears a faint boom and feels a slight shake. Ever since then, strange things have been happening and the Faerie Chief believes the cause is located deep within the Earth.

As you journey to the Earth's core to unravel the mystery of the fallen star, you'll come across many challenges, such as deadly pits, rolling boulders, bats and ghosts. These obstacles can be overcome using items found along the way: bombs can be used to clear a path through stones, flares will drive away bats and portable fans can be used to blow away ghosts.

Befriending pets grants special, unique bonuses. Snowball, for example, will dig up hidden Litho-stones which are used to unlock items.

SPELUNKER PARTY! can be played solo or you can team up for some 4 player action in local or online co-op. The demo only offers solo play or offline couch co-op, but there are multiple stages to complete.

SPELUNKER PARTY! Is available digitally for Nintendo Switch and Steam on 19 October.
