Stranded Deep brings tropical island survival to PS4 and Xbox One

Following a mysterious plane crash, players must build shelters and craft tools in order to stave off hunger, thirst and the elements. The console version of Stranded Deep, which originally released on PC back in 2015, also marks the arrival of a proper ending, with players able to work their way to freedom for the first time.

Structures in the game range from basic shelters built from palm fronds to more lavish designs made from bricks and wood. You can also make vehicles such as rafts and even a gyrocopter, all of which can be used to explore new areas. These include other tropical islands and the surrounding waters, with players able to search for treasure and supplies in shipwrecks and abandoned dwellings.

​Local fauna include snakes, wild boar and sharks, but also kraken-like giant squid, which you can see a brief glimpse of in the video above. There’s said to be three bosses to best, each of which offer up a “very important reward” once beaten along with a trophy that can be mounted on an in-game wall.

Stranded Deep is available to purchase digitally on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for £16.74 and £15.99, respectively.
