THQ Nordic have revealed a This Is the Police sequel will be launching on PC and consoles in 2018.

Developed by Weappy, the team behind the original title, This Is the Police 2 follows the story of a new Sheriff, Lilly Reed, as she struggles to maintain order in the northern town of Sharpwood, a place that’s home to “smugglers, gangs and screaming populists.” From the trailer below, it appears that the protagonist from the first game, Jack Boyd, is set to feature in some way in the sequel.

It also sounds like players will have more of a direct influence over situations in This Is the Police 2, compared to the relatively hands-off approach taken by the original game.

From the press release:

“It won’t be enough just managing the equipment of your policemen and keeping in mind their individual skills. Every challenge requires the player’s direct participation, and the outcomes will depend on every decision you make. Now your subordinates aren’t just some resource; they are living people with their own strengths, weaknesses, fears and prejudices, and you'll have to reckon with all these things in order to survive.”

​While there’s no specific release date just yet, THQ Nordic did confirm the game will be releasing later this year on Xbox One, Switch, PS4 and PC.
