You’ll play as an Inquisitor, a powerful secret agent whose job it is to protect humanity from the taint of the Chaos Gods.

Inquisitors come from diverse backgrounds and each class will have its own strengths and weaknesses. There’s a heavy duty Crusader, a swift Assassin and one more class that Neocore have yet to reveal.
As well as boasting a single player campaign set in an “abandoned fortress-monastery “Martyr”, which hides a terrible secret from the past of the Inquisition”, players can blaze their own trail in the open world game mode known as the Inquisitorial Campaign, which gives you the freedom to explore the persistent Caligari Sector, boasting thousands of randomly generated planets, moons and ships.

You won't necessarily be alone in the expansive world, as the Inquisitorial Campaign supports four player co-op and allows you to join various clans. Unique world events and quest lines could potentially influence the future of the Caligari Sector you are tasked with patrolling.

You'll also be able to build and customise a fortress. Whilst it's not a direct PvP experience, raiding other fortresses is possible and will provide you with valuable loot, but make sure to upgrade your own in order to withstand any assaults.

The game will also feature tactical elements partly thanks to the cover based combat system and environmental destruction, which you can get a taste of in the trailer below:
To make the combat even more immersive, enemy AI has been reworked so that groups will have a leader responsible for coordinating attacks. Snipers will attempt to pick you off from behind cover, while the flankers will get in position to punish anyone who tries to advance.

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr is due for release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2017.
