The Guitar Hero developer will remain open, despite layoffs, and continue to support Guitar Hero Live. "Activision and FreeStyleGames leadership have been considering a range of future options for the studio, and have been consulting with staff to explore all alternatives. The collective team have now reached the end of a consultation exercise and the decision has been made to restructure FreeStyleGames to better align the studio resources with future business needs.”
Activision has stated that it has no plans to release another Guitar Hero title during this generation of consoles, but reaffirmed their commitment to the UK market and FreeStyleGames: “We are working with the studio teams to explore options to rebalance staff within Activision Blizzard and its related organisations. The UK remains a key market for Activision Blizzard and FreeStyleGames continues to be a great partner. We thank all of the team for their continued passion, creativity and commitment." This isn't the first UK developer to be hit by restructuring; last month Microsoft announced plans to close Lionhead Studios and Sony shuttered its Evolution Studios. Is this a bad omen for UK devs? Falcon Lost has two difficulties; hard mode is for those who have a gear score equivalent to level 31, while challenge mode is even tougher. There are no checkpoints during Falcon Lost, so if your team goes down it's right back to the beginning.
Enemies will be able to deploy aerial drones and you'll come up against an armored personnel carrier, which acts as a boss and is impervious to bullets, forcing you to find another way to deal with it. Four rare gear sets will be added with the update; Sentry’s Call, Striker’s Battle Gear, Path of the Nomad, and Technician’s Authority. Each one is meant to support a distinctive play style. Sentry’s Call will promote consistent precision and Striker’s Battle Gear is for assault-focused players. Finding and equipping four pieces of a single set unlocks an all new talent, which the developers are keeping to themselves for now. Also arriving with the update is the much demanded ability to trade loot with other players. You'll be able to drop any gear you've picked up and make it available to other members of your group, while dropping items in the Dark Zone will require you to be inside the Dark Zone gate. Other new features included in the update are:
Falcon Lost is scheduled to go live on 12 April and is the first of two free Incursions being added to the game. The second, Conflict, is planned to follow in May. There’ll also be three paid expansions throughout the year. Are you looking forward to this new challenge in The Division, or still working your way up to level 30? Let us know in the forums. |
