Despite the rumours, Battleborn will not be going free-to-play. However, Gearbox Software's Randy Pitchford has confirmed plans for "a trial version of the game that would be free and from which retail can be purchased along with DLC." Although the source claims that the announcement could come as early as November, Mr. Pitchford has stated that nothing has been nailed down yet, so it could take some time until we have something concrete. Sales of Battleborn failed to meet expectations, possibly due to releasing in the same month as Overwatch, and the price has dropped considerably since launch. This 'definitely not free-to-play' version might be a good way of enticing more people onboard.

With just over a month until the NES Classic goes on sale, Nintendo have showcased some of the console’s key features in a suitably retro trailer. Each of the NES Classic’s 30 titles are accessed via the console’s HOME Menu, with players able to apply filters to make searching for specific titles that little bit easier.
Nintendo also detailed the Suspend Points feature, which allows players to save their progress at any time. Pressing the Reset button takes players back to the HOME Menu where they can create a Suspend Point, with each game allowing up to four slots. The NES Classic launches 11 November. Hi-Rez, developers of community favourite MOBA SMITE, are bringing their free-to-play first-person shooter to Xbox One and PS4, and it may seem ever so slightly familiar...
Take a look at the trailer below. There are four character classes in Paladins; Damage, Tank, Support and Flank. Whilst the first three are pretty self explanatory, the Flank class is akin to SMITE's Assassin class, offering high damage output at the cost of health. Characters can be upgraded using cards that are unique to each one. Your Champions will have a basic loadout, but you'll be able to customise and save different variations as you acquire new cards earnt through gameplay. Watch the short card system tutorial below to learn all the ins and outs. Players can also employ the use of items, which are bought while in the spawn area using credits. This works in a similar fashion to SMITE, with credits being awarded for completing tasks, such as killing enemies and capturing objectives.
Another similarity to Hi-Rez Studios' free-to-play MOBA is the inclusion of a Founder's Pack, granting access to all current Champions as well as those released in the future. There's no launch date as of yet, but you can sign up for the closed beta on either Xbox One or PlayStation 4 here. Are you looking forward to Paladins: Champions of the Realm?
