​It’s my turn to be stranded on PTC’s desert Island, with nothing but a magically sourced internet and electricity connection, as well as four games to my name. Honestly, with the summer holidays currently shattering my peace, it sounds pretty idyllic. Don’t rescue me, ok? No search party needed. In fact, just leave me with a dozen cats and I’ll be perfectly happy.

​Neverwinter

I love a bit of Neverwinter. Despite a very long hiatus in playing it when I moved from Microsoft's platform to Sony’s, I love it just as much - if not more - now.

As an entirely free-to-play MMO it plays relatively well, is well populated, and as a result is always easy to find someone to play with. That aside, not only is it pretty much endless even after you’ve finished the main campaigns (as long as you’re happy to run daily repeatable quests), but assuming I can sneak my headset onto the desert island, I’ll also still have my guild-mates (that’s The Reborn Dragon Hunters, in case you were interested…) for occasional social interaction.

Final Fantasy VII

​In a surprise to absolutely nobody anywhere at all, I want Final Fantasy VII with me, too. I could go on for ages about why I love it so much – but my biggest reason is that no matter how many times I complete this game (and there have been many… too many, possibly) I still find or notice something new every time. The intricate story, the way the characters are entwined with one another; it leaves small, seemingly insignificant details all over the place, just waiting for you to discover them. Also, the soundtrack is feasibly the only music I will ever need, ever again.

Animal Crossing New Leaf

​Another addition with no ending, Animal Crossing New Leaf is a game I often leave to gather dust for weeks and even months on end, but always end up going back to and getting sucked into, to the point of obsession.

​The possibilities with all that time on my hands… I will finally catch a tarantula. I will finally reunite this lost item I’ve had for six months with its rightful owner. I might even get my museum finished, who knows?
​
Of course, it also puts me in good stead for when I slowly start turning the desert island into a small colony, in which I’m the only human being and all my friends are animals with a penchant for furniture and obscure fashion.

​Goat Simulator

I can see the judgemental look in your eyes already, but bear with me here, ok? I’m stuck on a desert island, my animal colony isn’t quite ready yet, and sometimes I’m going to need a laugh. I can’t take Russell Howard with me (apparently it’s against the rules, and also classed as kidnap), and, well, if you don’t find physics-defying goats wearing jet packs on trampolines funny… I’m afraid our friendship ends here.
