Community round-up XIX26/6/2016 It's that time of year again - E3 has been and gone, so we've had our fill of news, whilst publishers are too afraid to release big games, as apparently some people prefer to go outside during the summer?!
If that wasn't already enough, one of the losing team's members happened to be HaloFollower, a Halo dedicated YouTube channel with just shy of 430,000 subscribers. Not too shabby, Mr Rook!
I'd be lying if I didn't admit that Jason leading the project was a contributing factor in my anticipating For Honor. In another bit of news that parallels Tippy's - stop drinking now if you are, lest you spew your beverage in horror - we saw a win from Plasma wing to end his long streak of fails. Just as I warned you of the impending shock, Plas eased me into the news that he somehow managed to not only complete Dark Souls, but to get all of the achievements as well. I still can't quite believe the news, but I'm truly happy he finally got to experience the endorphin rush that comes with success. Liking the snazzy SmartGlass-to-Xbox app update that was snuck out recently, though it does give away a few of my friends list favourites, a couple of which (Metalrodent and Decent Jam) managed to break the physics in Grand Theft Auto V. Nice to see they've improved their system since the infamous Grand Theft Auto IV swing glitch...
Some familiar faces joined us in the forum this week, Captain Chao5 and BAMozzy returning from hiatus. If you want to talk tech, BAM is your man. For the forum-averse that don't fancy following suit, you may have spotted that we've recently enabled article comments, which opens up a whole new avenue of community interaction. Be sure to leave your thoughts on any relevant article for another chance to feature in future round-ups. Sonic turned 25 this week, so it's a celebratory retro classic for the jukebox. Whilst there are masses of great tracks in the blue hedgehog's past, a personal favourite is Sonic 3's Ice Cap Zone theme, on which you can feast your ears below. Community round-up XVIII - E3 special18/6/2016
E3 2016 has sadly concluded, so let's take a look at the moments that had us lovingly holding our consoles like Norman Reedus and his Norman Fetus, as well as those that just made us pull that face.
Bethesda took the stage afterwards for a reasonable showing that didn't quite match last year's effort - again, catch up here if you missed it. Unfortunately, I neglected to screenshot any highlights from the chat thanks to being preoccupied with live tweeting. Then there was the fact it started at an exhausting 3am, as well. Thanks to everyone that stayed up late with us regardless.
Monday opened with the big one for our community in Microsoft's Xbox conference. It was perhaps underwhelming on the software front, whilst showcasing some exciting new hardware and direction, all of which you can read up on here. The arrival of Dan brought some loving pedantry from Plas, while ImmaturityRules was meanwhile more concerned that the new club feature might lead to some unwanted solicitation - not that Johnbhoy69 would mind.
We seem to have a lot of crossover with Tinder, Dan expressing his joy at an Xbox equivalent above and John spending some time on there after swiping left on the Forza Horizon 3 reveal.
They didn't win anyone's attention back with the Minecraft segment that wasn't only cringe-worthy, but belonged nowhere near an E3 stage.
Final Fantasy XV wasn't exactly well met, either.
In fact, live chat found the hand Microsoft dealt to be pretty underwhelming on the whole.
You know something's wrong when just a few parting sentiments are; "I'm annoyed I got excited for this", "Wow, that was shite" and "A TV spot for Ice Age 5 in the other room was probably the biggest reveal for me".
The forum folk that didn't catch it live with us were a little more favourable, Metalrodent, Timmeh and Confused Johnny holding positive sentiments in the E3 thread. The biggest talking point was undoubtedly Project Scorpio, which split the forum between those for and against the continued generational and proposed itterational console cycles. Many plan to pick it up day one, whilst others refuse to if only on principle. Ubisoft stepped up next - you know the deal, all the details here - providing what was probably the strongest third-party showing. That said, their opening didn't really set the tone.
Once again I didn't capture any of the positive comments, because those are far less entertaining as we all know. Skipping all the juicy middle, we'll hop to the other end of the presser and take a look at the reaction to the underwhelming reveal of Steep.
The mauling wasn't done yet.
Sony wrapped things up with a hideous 2am start - just like Bethesda I was tired and tasked with live tweeting the thing, so screen caps fell somewhat by the wayside. Sorry, I'm only human. Please accept this round-up of the event by my fair hand as compensation.
It was undoubtedly the best of the bunch if you ask me, and I just told you anyway if you don't.
We'll just skip Nintendo's awful Treehouse coverage, which managed to make Zelda look boring and viewers tune out rather than deal with annoying presenters. The game's sure to be amazing, but they didn't do it any favours.
Overall, this year's E3 was hardly the most innovative - just when you thought zombies were on their way out, Dead Rising 4, State of Decay 2 and Days Gone rear their heads - but regardless of that there are a lot of fantastic games on the horizon. Some great hardware as well; I'll be indulging in VR come October, the most powerful console ever towards the end of next year, and perhaps a Nintendo NX if only for Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It's a great time to be a gamer and exciting for us to share it with a growing audience, having gained hundreds of Twitter followers over the course of E3. As the audience grows, we aim to provide more ways to keep them entertained, which brings us to this week's jukebox entry. It's a bit of a cheat, but it fits the premise in being something you should listen to, so shush. Presenting: the first PTC podcast, featuring myself, James and Chris dissecting E3. Community round-up XVII11/6/2016 The lush loveliness above is Watch_Dogs 2, sequel to a game that "entirely underwhelmed" MrkDhn and featured a protagonist with "the personality of a potato" according to Jaime Rodriguez. Personally, I can't wait to gauge how badly its visuals have been downgraded come release in November.
Injustice 2's existence was confirmed, but sadly ImmaturityRules' wish wasn't granted - no starring role for Aquaman - the heathens didn't even put him in the trailer! That said, there was no sign of Lex Poothor, so it isn't all bad. When it was leaked that Bethesda would unveil a remaster at their E3 press conference, everyone pretty much knew it was going to be Skyrim. That didn't stop some wishing for earlier games in the Elder Scrolls series instead; Metalrodent wanted "a good game" like Morrowind or Oblivion (burn!), whilst ImmaturityRules laments the fact Skyrim on his PC likely already runs better than a console remaster would. On the other hand, MrkDhn is happy to revisit the game just for the addition of mods, as is Max, provided the price is right. Unfortunately, it looks to be wrong. E3 aims to "inspire new worlds" with a preview of gaming's future, which prompted the following wit from Mr. Rodriguez. Bethesda better break out the Sudocrem for these burns! XCOM 2's console reveal was met with a lot of love: Plas, crippyd, Max, SkinnerChinner and Confused Johnny are all excited. Perhaps more interesting than the reveal itself was Johnny's choice of soldier names in the original. Following a 'favourite things' method of selection, his campaigns featured rugby players, wrestlers and... Thomas the Tank Engine characters? He can backtrack and blame it on his son all he wants, but we all know the truth. Yet another game announcement garnered discussion as Heavyarms_Kai shared news of the Final Fantasy XII HD Remaster. Fond memories make it a must for Johnbhoy, but Plas isn't happy that there's been no mention of an Xbox One release so far. "Well when about five people in total will pick it up on the XB1 it's not surprising really." Plas' opinion doesn't matter and I can confirm, as a primary Xbox One user, that I wouldn't touch Final Fantasy with a barge pole - Kai might be on to something here... Wednesday's Overwatch recording wasn't without its technical issues, but James managed to amass enough footage to work with. Those who left early, I regret to inform you that the video evidence of us steamrolling the opposition has been lost. Whilst not good for the ego, people do at least seem to enjoy watching people fail; take Plas as an example. You might not hear it in the upcoming let's play, so I'll prescribe a dose of Overwatch's epic Victory Theme in this week's jukebox entry. It sounds slightly off without the rat-a-tat of a Bastion Play of the Game over the top, doesn't it?
Before signing off, I'll take a moment to congratulate Metalrodent on his World of Tanks team giving the world champions a run for their money. They did take a 3-2 loss, but it was an admirable effort none the less. E3 kicks off tomorrow, as do the associated festivities! Check our schedule for an idea of what to expect from us, as well as a rundown of the live stream times; after picking which you'd like to see, head over to the E3 Hub at the appropriate time to watch and chat with us live. Why not get involved by liking us on Facebook, following us on Twitter, and having your say in the forums and E3 Hub live chat. You might feature in a future instalment as a result. Community round-up XVI3/6/2016 Me and Plas played a lot of Platinum's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan co-op this week, finishing the campaign on normal and making a good start on hard mode. Maybe it's a result of going in with incredibly low expectations, but for a game that's been critically panned, we've been having a blast!
You can see how much he contributed to the Karai boss battle, as well. Raphael's dancing rather than helping his three brothers with the Yorkshire baker in control, but the behaviour seems to have stuck. After Plas fittingly switched to Michelangelo, Raphael's AI caused a glitch that impeded progress before he proceeded to gloat with a celebratory dance. What a bastard. Outside of Turtles co-op, community game nights have covered Overwatch, Payday 2 and old favourite Grand Theft Auto V. I was quite proud of securing a Zenyatta Play of the Game in the former, my performance granting a whopping ten votes from the twelve players present! Admittedly the play wasn't anything spectacular, but I haven't seen anyone come close to ten votes before or since (well, other than the next round where the same bunch gave me nine votes). Timmeh was impressed and inquired as to what the spoils of such a feat were - the answer? Diddly-squat... Payday 2 wasn't without its memorable moments, either, as Metalrodent shot this guy so hard he burrowed into the wall. His posture pretty much conveys his final thoughts, I'm sure. The Witcher 3's Blood and Wine expansion arrived this week, causing Johnbhoy and ImmaturityRules to fall back in love with Geralt's latest adventure. As well as enjoying the new content, both have been impressed by the patch support and resultantly improved systems since they last played. Sounds like there's never been a better time to jump in, but I'm still holding out hope for an encompassing Game of the Year Edition. Elsewhere, forum moderator Max shared the rumour that NetherRealm may be working on a sequel to DC beat-'em-up Injustice: Gods Among Us. What does he want to see from the potential new entry? A "more competitive" SHAZAM, "more characters" and "better net code". "Expecting better netcode from Netherrealm is pretty close to the definition of insanity." Quipped ImmaturityRules in reply, who would like to see more equality both in costume distribution and the roles characters play in the story mode. Whilst it's fair enough not to want Batman and Superman forced down your throat again, his proposed replacements seem questionable. "Aquaman is clearly the best choice, because he's pure awesomeness. A speaking role for Boris the shark is a must, too."
Things are relatively quiet presently as we occupy the calm before the impending E3 storm, but a couple of weeks from now it's party time! Myself, James, Plas and Timmeh have gone as far as to book time off for the festivities, whilst Max doesn't have exams for the first time and is looking forward to giving the expo his undivided attention. Everyone else is excited too, at least in part thanks to the prospect of a PTC podcast relating to the event. Rodent was ever so slightly cynical in hoping we'd "slag off the new tat being flogged at us", but I'll let it slide as he also said we have "lovely voices", unlike James last week. The earlier talk of fighting games has me thinking of Mick Gordon's Killer Instinct soundtrack, specifically Maya's theme, so there's only one option for this week's jukebox entry. That's the complete dynamic theme, which sounds even better in the context of the game, evolving to complement the action perfectly.
Just one more round-up before the E3 special! Why not get involved by liking us on Facebook, following us on Twitter and having your say in the forums. You might even feature in a future instalment as a result. Community round-up XV27/5/2016 Overwatch is here, guys!
Check out the first part if you like what you saw. Timmeh found himself irritated by his own voice after watching, to the point he wanted to punch himself in the face. I empathised as it seems to be pretty universal, whilst James pointed out that he isn't "that" annoying. The fact James elected not to comment at all on my voice speaks louder volumes... Keeping things Overwatch for a little longer, you might remember that last week a Dark Souls III boss simply handed Plasma wing a win whilst having more than half health left. It no doubt felt bad after brutalising him and threw a bone his way. Now Overwatch seems to have caught the bug, awarding him the coveted "Play of the Game" for what was actually an abysmal display. I don't even... Rob's working on our review, so expect official verdict on Overwatch soon. Until then, you can peruse his preview for more on the game. Still with us, Rodent? It's safe to venture out of your corner now. Emily got her eyebrows waxed for the first time this week - don't worry, she usually uses tweezers and hasn't spent her life working on a monobrow - it apparently felt like it took skin off along with the hair... "The things we women do to avoid looking like Groucho Marx, really, you should all be massively grateful." It's a little generous to credit all women - believe me, many don't bother. The horrors I've beholden do at least make me grateful, so you get a thank you on behalf of all men from me. Whilst I don't envy Emily the experience, I envy Confused Johnny and his "Back, Crack and Sack" even less. Whilst Johnny asserts (most likely correctly) that the pain caused by said procedure would eclipse the former, James frankly has the right approach: "As a male I don't feel in any way qualified to comment on the concept of pain - not least because I know what's good for me." This one will go far. Anyway, let's get back to gaming. The Rumours and Speculation forum thread has naturally been full of musings as E3 further encroaches. This week, potential new Xbox consoles have been on the agenda: it's been reported that we'll see an Xbox One 40% smaller than the original console, lacking a disk drive and with 2TB of storage built-in announced at next month's expo. Confused Johnny would've opted for this model from launch as he's a totally digital consumer, but others are less interested, likely because the digital value proposition just doesn't add up yet (that's my excuse, anyway).
Bezza doesn't see it as a bad thing, stating that the last generation was way too long and a return to shorter cycles would be welcome in his eyes. He argues that Xbox One could be true to its name and function as an optionally upgradable system, removing the need for another and making it the one Xbox to persist. Whilst people seem opposed to this idea, how many buy revisions of phones every year? A console upgrade would undoubtedly cost less. Confused Johnny and Timmeh are onboard so long as the technical specifications are right and the asking price isn't too ridiculous. As ever, I'm open to upgrading, but with the console said to be releasing in late 2017 I can't help - perhaps controversially - feeling it's being left a little late. By then I, and many others, will have already upgraded their PS4 (if the Neo rumours pan out, as they likely will) and have invested in PlayStation VR. If Microsoft are to launch their equivalent a year removed, it's going to be a much less new and exciting prospect. Hopefully all will become clear soon, but for now we transition to the concrete. Chris shared a clip of him being a sneaky bugger in Rainbow Six: Siege on Wednesday night. Most impressive is how the opposition fail to notice him picking them off for an entire round, but to their credit they learn and don't let it happen again when Chris tries for a repeat performance. No more taking people for behind I'm afraid, chum.
After dipping a toe into Platinum's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan - keep your eyes peeled for Rob's review - the somewhat mundane soundtrack has me yearning for the retro classics the series previously produced. Check out the evolution of the boss fight theme below.
Community round-up XIV20/5/2016 Plasma wing has a nasty habit of stopping playing the game at hand in aid of playing another game, most often Solitaire. It's quite bizarre, frankly. It does, at least, present opportunity to mess with him a little bit, as Metalrodent has in the above screenshot.
Those two co-op summons definitely hate him now. After such a pathetic performance, Prince Lorian felt bad for Plas and decided to just hand him the win. Real talk, though - that's a pretty significant glitch. SMITE added new achievements for the Norse God of Mischief, Loki this week. Rodent can't stomach facing the tricksy assassin, so his guaranteed surge in popularity came as unwelcome news. Maybe he'll be able to handle it now, as the last time I played he certainly wasn't capable of getting a penta-kill. Or nearly getting one, at least. Damn it, Garry, not only are you annoyingly handsome, but you stole the penta! I feel for you, Rodent. As promised last week, James delivered the goods on an Overwatch community game night video. Featuring myself, James, Liam, Timmeh and Plas learning the ropes against the AI, they naturally didn't stand a chance. Just ignore the bit where Plas gets awarded the best play, I reported the glitch to Blizzard and have been assured it'll be ironed out come full release. Speaking of: release is excitingly just days away now, so be sure to head over to the PTC Nights thread and get involved with the upcoming sessions (provided you're getting the Xbox One version, that is). DOOM is pretty great, by the way. I never thought I'd say that with the trailers painting a fairly mediocre picture. As was said in the review, I'm immensely happy to have been proven wrong. I even enjoy creating SnapMaps. This is coming from a guy that can't get along with level editing in Halo's Forge, Little Big Planet or Project Spark. You can check out my first creation by using the code LTYPZ264. Titled "Stop it! Don't open that door!" (can you name the reference?), it's a short excursion in which you should have just enough ammo to survive. "Programming" the brief segment took around two hours, which definitely prompted great respect for developers and the work they do. Rob and Johnbhoy have been playing and having just as much fun, maybe even more with their affinity for the multiplayer mode that I deem the weak link. It's now time for a cautionary tale. You'd think this was self-explanatory, but kids, when boarding a helicopter be sure to sit on the inside. James lead by example, but Rob still managed to find his way onto the roof, where the rotor blades make short work of him. Some people...
A few weeks ago Lisa Miskovsky's Still Alive, main theme to Mirror's Edge, made the PTC jukebox as it's a personal favourite of mine. Now Mirror's Edge Catalyst's theme has been released. Titled "Warning Call" and performed by Scottish electronic trio CHVRCHES, it doesn't quite match up, but hey, it's still a step above most. Community round-up XIII13/5/2016 Spawned of a community gaming session, the above occurs when Editor, James "Decent Jam" Parry, gets a kill during a multiplayer match. Metalrodent put this mock-up together, along with the caption "Coming soon to the PTC store" - worryingly, James said he'll "look into it". This is something he actually wants out in the wild? The eagle-eyed amongst you might have noticed I joined the 21st century and created a Twitter account this week. After discovering Microsoft's CaptionBot was a thing that existed, I couldn't resist having a play and posting the results. A pair of skis. Right. After those glorious results, how do you resist sticking your mug on for analysis? OK, now how am I supposed to resist doing the rest of team PTC? The software's unfortunately semi-accurate on occasion. The Overwatch beta concluded on Tuesday, displeasing many an addicted community member. Community game nights have remained strong regardless, old favourites GTAV and Rainbow Six: Siege stepping in to fill the empty void. Your Overwatch tremors will soon be muted with release around the corner, but James is working on something of the moving picture variety to provide a fix until then - keep an eye out for it. Johnbhoy69 dove into the fantastic Uncharted 4; agreeably he's found it to be "a vast improvement over the previous games". I've had a mixed history with the series, but the latest entry is really something special. Smooth gameplay, amazing visuals, insane levels of detail, lovable characters and compelling narrative a great game make. It's all got John a bit excited for the possibility of a Last of Us 2, his fingers firmly crossed for an E3 reveal next month. I foresee Naughty Dog resurrecting Crash Bandicoot before we see the return of any fungal-infected Clickers - anyone that's played Uncharted 4 will know why. Another week, another birthday celebrated in the Happy Birthday Thread. This time it was the turn of Plasma wing, who we'll spare the embarrassment of another entry into a growing library of fails as a special treat. ... Nah, who am I kidding? He died to the easy AI in SMITE! Liam published an opinion piece on why he backed Battalion 1944 on Kickstarter, which prompted Jaime Rodriguez to retort on our Facebook page. Whilst I understand his reasoning, sometimes the personal lure of a project is too much to resist and supporting it is thus worth the risk. That's what happened for me earlier this year, at least. I popped my funding cherry by giving $81 to Gun Media's Friday the 13th: The Game project and haven't yet lived to regret it.
Keeping things Kickstarter, there's a project that aims to see classic Commodore Amiga game, Turrican II, receive an orchestral remix of its brilliant soundtrack in celebration of the 25th anniversary. Listen to the intro theme below for an idea of what to expect (just give it a moment to kick-in). Community round-up XII6/5/2016 "Ooh what pretty radioactive death" Metalrodent captioned his screenshot. Maybe it's the chems talking, but I have to agree, psychopathic or not. So close, yet so far. Being the nice guy that I am, I said I'd also share a clip of him doing something awesome to balance things out - yin and yang. Or not. Sorry Plas. A lot of folk have been getting stuck into Dark Souls 3, and whilst Sam was first to the finish, he's had some trouble holding onto his Souls. It all started a couple of weeks ago with the loss of 66,000, but things have only escalated from there. I have to echo MrkDhn10, but sympathies aren't enough to counter what came next. Ouch. Fortunately for him, crippyd - Solver of Problems - has the answer: I think you need to spend some time at Firelink! Maybe the big writing will help him remember? "87K just went bye-bye." Nope, I give up. The Call of Duty reveal was sure to spark some debate. Whilst Rodent and Liam were more interested in Modern Warfare Remastered, Johbhoy69 chose to focus on Infinite Warfare itself. Besides thinking the trailer looks "meh", he laments what looks like the same old formula being reused in yet another CoD game. "Useless squad mates that get in the way of your shots, having to follow characters and stay low as they tell us when to move, and basically being treated like we've never played a FPS before." That does sound awfully familiar. In the other corner is Battlefield 5. Rodent's hoping it goes "back in time" and he's not alone - Confused Johnny remarked: "I honestly thought I wanted a return to WWII, but when rumours circulated weeks back that BF may go even further back, to WWI, I got pretty excited." If you're thinking about getting Battleborn, you might want to pop into this thread, as Sam's looking for a co-op partner to provide excuse to buy it. Timmeh's the closest he's gotten to someone taking him up on the offer: "I'm tempted but not sure really, played the beta briefly and though it was good, although I had no idea what I was doing. might wait for the reviews and see what they say." Surely the promise of some co-op action should be enough to swing his vote? Come on, I'm trying to do Sam a solid here. Speaking of co-op, Rob and James shared some thoughts on Fortified and its unique take on tower defence. If it looks like your kinda thing, keep an eye out for Rob's full written review. There's no 'i' in team, but there is an 'i' in Liam, who threw all ideas of co-operation away this week, shamelessly stealing a teammate's kill in Halo 5. After seeing their response, I'm sure we all feel he got what he deserved. The Overwatch open beta started this week, and runs until 9 May. Rob was lucky enough to go hands-on at an event recently and shared his opinions on the upcoming shooter. Those of us with early access to the beta jumped into a few games on Wednesday. Whilst we held our own for the most part, the highlight of the night had to be Plasma wing uncharacteristically proving to be an asset to the team. No videos or pictures exist of this unbelievable feat, so you'll have to take my word for it. The Indefinite E3 Thread is starting to heat up as we draw closer to next month's event. Bezza unfortunately isn't feeling it this year, only being able to muster enthusiasm for Deus Ex and Mass Effect Andromeda. TippiestRook's in agreement, opining, "I'm feeling the same. There are games I'm excited for, Mass Effect Andromeda and Halo Wars 2, but I don't really feel like this year has that much on the horizon." Confused Johnny only has a couple on his most anticipated list as well, though they're the somewhat less conventional Friday the 13th and Farming Simulator 2017 (?!). Personally, I'm quite excited for Crackdown 3, and luckily Sam, Timmeh and MrkDhn were a bit more enthusiastic about the games (and hardware) to come. Over in The Procrastination Page, Hetty showed off her and her sister's matching tattoos that further escalate her rabid Harry Potter fandom. She also gave her verdict on gaming themed loot boxes. Sometimes the stuff is amazing and other times it looks like tat you can pick up in Poundland. Also, Paul now has a wardrobe filled with more t shirts than any one person could ever feasibly wear." MrkDhn10 shared some good news with us: "Small world - have been invited to an interview on Monday at the same bank which ended my contract end of April! Totally different department but somewhat uncanny." We wish you the best of luck, make sure to pop in and tell us how it went! I'll leave you all with this classic from Tony Hawk's Underground. If you like what you hear, check out the band's official website.
If you want to get involved, you can like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, or have your say in the forums. You might even feature in a future round-up. PTC community round-up XI30/4/2016 Just like in real life, when Metalrodent sees a pretty woman through a window in Mirror's Edge Catalyst, he can't help but press himself up against the glass in a bid to grab their attention. Just like in real life, it never quite pans out. Catalyst seems to be bringing out the worst in everyone, as when Chris discovered his son had changed the control scheme - leading to Faith's accidental death - he "slapped him and told him he was born without a soul". Harsh, but it was a necessary life lesson I think we can all agree... Right? ... No? ...
Mimics are incredibly common now, so always give them a whack first to avoid repeated embarrassment at their hands - and large teeth. Thanks to Dark Souls III being so monumentally distracting, there hasn't been a SMITE-night in a while. I have to get my jabs in at Rodent and Plas somewhere, you understand. To give credit where it's due, Rodent did provide a community review of DiRT Rally this week. It proved popular, as did my synopsis of gaming subscription boxes with @splendjoel on Twitter. Glad to hear it, good sir! Nintendo's mysterious NX sparked discussion following an out-of-the-blue release date reveal on Wednesday. It was also announced that the long-awaited Legend of Zelda game, originally scheduled for a 2015 Wii U exclusive release, would now come simultaneously to the NX in 2017. I was happy to hear this, as there's no way I'd purchase a Wii U at this late stage and it thus opens the door to me as a potential NX owner. Doesn't hurt that I can boast about the fact my six-month-old prediction came to fruition, either. Buffs nails Whilst Plas and Liam were also pleased, even hoping we'd see more Wii U games reach the platform, Rob - a proud Wii U owner - was understandably disappointed. I'm pretty pissed off at the delay; I understand it makes perfect business sense, though. There's literally nothing left of worth to come to the Wii U now - after Star Fox, I may trade it in before it becomes completely worthless. If you're wondering how you missed that statement on the forum, don't worry, I nabbed it from an internal email. I'm sure he won't mind. Our Game of the Year 2015, Fallout 4, forced a slice of humble pie down the gullet of Confused Johnny when he was forced to admit that the DLC he'd previously written off as "a bit meh", was in fact "just... so... much... fun!" Sinking twenty hours into building an arena to house a fight club, Johnny initially failed to realise that his champion didn't have a clean bill of health. When Preston beat "loads of other settlers, a group of four raiders, two super mutants and a Deathclaw", doping allegations began to creep in. Preston is, in fact, invincible - the first rule of a Fallout fight club is you can't be invincible, so he was justly disqualified. Fallout 4 mods also entered open beta on PC, which will lead Chris to finally realise his dream of owning horse armour in a Bethesda game (nobody's paying the outrageous Oblivion asking price). He's also looking for a certain sort of weapon after befalling a great injustice. I could do with someone making a cryolator type weapon, mine disappeared into the floor. RIP :'-( Max, our forum moderator, celebrated his birthday this week and everyone took to The Happy Birthday Thread in order to wish him well. What a nice bunch. Whilst I extended salutations in the thread, we're going to make it official with a special entry into the PTC jukebox - all together now: Now that Max is sufficiently embarrassed, we'll wrap this sucker up.
Congratulations to TippiestRook, who won a copy of Gear Gauntlet on Xbox One in our competition. The answer was, of course, C) Stephen Matthew White. Thanks to everyone that entered and to Drop Dead Interactive for the prize. Why not head over to our Forum, Facebook or Twitter and read up on even more of the week's happenings? Get involved in the conversation and you might even feature in a future edition. PTC community round-up X23/4/2016 As you can see from my screenshot above, Dark Souls III's a beautiful thing. Until it brutally slaughters you without mercy, that is. Of the bountiful deaths, one specifically hurt more than any other, coming at the cost of 66,000 Souls. In an effort to maintain composure, I simply stood up, turned the console off and walked away. Not a single expletive was uttered, which crippyd can attest is a sterling display of self-control. "It's an absolute killer when that happens! I remember losing about 100K in DS2 and the air was a little blue!" I soldiered on to bring you our review.
John went on to theorise that Warner Brothers might want to "make up the money they lost from the Arkham Knight PC disaster." A fair shout. For those that don't remember the troubled launch, Tom made a video detailing some of the issues back when the PC version hadn't yet been entirely given up on. Confused Johnny got a little ahead of himself following our recent increase in event coverage, asking "is PTC going to send someone to E3 this year?" Whilst he had a great idea for a Twitch-streamed tournament to decide who had the honour of representing us, James had to let him down gently with the news that we aren't quite there yet (maybe one day with your continued support). It isn't all bad news, though, as last year's E3 Hub will return to bring you livestreams of all the press conferences, instant chat (I'll be there) and coverage galore! Whilst the PTC community have been somewhat down on the upcoming DOOM reboot in the past, Rob's unbridled enthusiasm for the old-school throwback was on proud display in his preview.
