Downwell is the perfect blend of retro and modern gaming, and it's up for grabs on Steam in this week's giveaway!

In Downwell it's your job to venture down a well, unsurprisingly. You'll do so with a snazzy pair of "Gunboots" on your feet, used both for protection and navigation. The goal is to get deeper and deeper, all while collecting valuable treasure and fending off monsters.

Each level is procedurally generated and there are plenty of upgrades to acquire, making for a moreish descent into mystery that's achieved the acclaimed "Overwhelmingly Positive" review status from Steam users.

If you're ready to throw yourself down the well, enter to win Downwell via Gleam below. You also purchase a copy for just £1.99 on Steam
.

Good luck!

First up was Hades, the Greek mythology-inspired roguelike dungeon crawler from Supergiant Games. Hades sees you trying to escape the underworld by wielding mythical weapons and allying with the Greek pantheon. It’s already available on PC but will make its debut later this year on Switch, with cross-save support also confirmed between the two platforms.
Spritfarer, a game where you pilot a ship that’s ferrying dead spirits to the afterlife, is also making its way to Switch. Players can customise their boat, make new friends and explore an “imaginary world.” It’s available to download right now on the Switch eShop.

We also got a look at “wholesome action-adventure” and community-rebuilding game Garden Story, which is coming to Switch sometime next year. Underwater exploration title Subnautica and its sequel Subnautica: Below Zero are scheduled to make their way to Nintendo’s hybrid console in 2021 as well.

Other highlights included confirmation of a co-op mode for Untitled Goose Game coming in September; India-set action-adventure title Raji: An Ancient Epic, which takes inspiration from Hindu and Balinese mythology (out now); “quaint management” game Bear and Breakfast (2021), in which you (a bear) host guests in a rebuilt bed and breakfast; colourful dungeon crawler Torchlight 3 (autumn 2020); and mind-bending puzzler Manifold Garden, which is out now.

You can catch up on all the rest of today’s big reveals in the complete Nintendo Indie World Showcase video above.

What do you think of the latest indies coming to Switch? Let us know below or in the forums.

Rebellion Unplugged, the board game division of UK-based video game publisher and developer Rebellion (Rogue Trooper Redux, Sniper Elite 4), have announced a Kickstarter campaign for a Sniper Elite tabletop game.

Sniper Elite the Board Game, a game that’s all about “pushing your luck and predicting your enemy,” supports up to four players, with one taking on the role of American sniper Karl Fairburne and up to three others controlling the German forces. The former has their own hidden board on which they’ll stealthily move Karl through the secret U-boat launch facility, taking out mission objectives as they go, while the latter group must defend key locations and try to hunt down the allied sniper.
Those playing as the sniper can use equipment cards and lay traps to aid them in their mission, while defenders can call upon specialist soldiers from amongst the ranks of their squads, such as fast moving scouts, healing medics and attack-focused Jager troopers.

The game has been designed by David Thompson (War Chest, Castle Itter) and Roger Tankersley, and has artwork and miniatures designed by the video game series’ concept art team.

Backer rewards include a solo mode, the Eagles Nest expansion pack, and a unique Hitler teste-kill miniature that recreates one of the series most iconic moments.

“It’s a privilege to bring the hugely popular Sniper Elite video game series to the tabletop, with brilliant designers, beautiful art and lovingly crafted miniatures,” said Rebellion Unplugged head Duncan Molloy. “Sniper Elite the Board Game delivers all the tension and excitement about the video games. We can’t wait for players to get their hands on it!”

At the time of writing, the Kickstarter campaign currently has amassed almost half of its £22,000 goal from 196 backers.

What do you think of the idea of a Sniper Elite board game? Let us know below.

A Steam key for ARPG Moonlighter is this week's giveaway prize!

Have you ever wondered how shopkeepers in games keep their stores stocked? In Moonlighter, you play as Will and attend to customers in your shop during the day, then delve dungeons to acquire saleable treasures by night.

It's a dreamy adventure in which Will aspires to become a hero, all while the weight of his family's shopkeeping lineage bears down on him. It also features Rogue-lite elements, with the intriguing mix of genres drawing comparisons to seemingly disparate greats like Stardew Valley, The Binding of Isaac and Dark Souls.

For your chance to moonlight as a dungeon-delving adventurer, enter via Gleam below. You can also purchase Moonlighter for £15.49 on Steam.

Good luck!
