The free event, which kicked off on 15 December and runs until 5 January, adds a special seasonal-themed PvE mission called Christmas Heist, in which players must rescue Christmas from a group of bandits who are holding a tree and presents hostage. Players will also need to defeat the “grinch-like Bandit leader” before they can successfully save the festive season.
During the event, and also in the New Year Fever PvP mode, players can pick up ‘Crackers’ which can be exchanged for cosmetic items that provide XP boosts in battle.

Stickers are also being added to the game with the update, allowing players to add some “sweet holiday designs to their metal monsters”.

Ubisoft and FoxNext Games have partnered up to bring Predator inspired content to Ghost Recon Wildlands in celebration of the original film’s 30th anniversary.

@pass_controller

The Jungle Storm Update goes live tomorrow, adding in a free Predator Special Challenge in which players face off against the iconic hunter either solo or with up to three friends in online co-op, in what Ubisoft is dubbing the “most difficult fight of all”. The challenge is available on all platforms from tomorrow and runs until early January.
Emerging from the challenge victorious sees players rewarded with exclusive items, including the Predator’s mask, which comes complete with heat vision capabilities.

The update also introduces a number of Predator inspired customisation options, from outfits seen in the film to the Predator’s wrist blades, and adds a new offensive class to the game’s PvP mode, Ghost War.

The new class is based on Schwarzenegger’s character from the movie, Dutch, and can be picked up either through the Ghost War Pass, the season pass or with prestige points.

“At Ubisoft Paris, we have been fans of the Predator movie for a long time and are thrilled to bring such an iconic character to our game,” said Nouredine Abboud, Senior Producer at Ubisoft. “The challenge is full of references to the original Predator movie and we cannot wait to see the reaction from our players.”

Will this crossover work? Looking forward to screaming “Get to the chopper!” at all your friends? Let us know below.

New Battalion 1944 video details the game’s development process

12/12/2017

Picture

Bulkhead Interactive (The Turing Test) have released a new video for their upcoming Xbox One, PS4 and PC shooter, Battalion 1944, that gives us a behind-the-scenes-look at the development process.

by Liam Andrews
Picture
@pass_controller

Bulkhead’s mission is to recapture the ‘glory days’ of shooters -  including Second World War-set ones like Call of Duty 2 - particularly the visceral, fast paced competitive multiplayer of such titles. The new video gives us a look at how the game has progressed over the past few months, and also hints at a release date, which is said to be “not long” after the worldwide reveal trailer launches on 9 January.
“Throughout development it’s been so important for us to study every element of World War II,” said Howard Philpott, Creative Producer at Bulkhead Interactive.

“The main thing for us is to really understand the brutality and the visceral nature of the Second World War. We’ve been working so damn hard just to make sure we can capture the intensity of these weapons, and making that translate to a mouse and keyboard. It’s been a challenge, but I feel like we’ve really nailed it.”

Joe Brammer, Executive Producer and Director at Bulkhead Interactive, also talks in the video of how working on the game has had a positive influence on him after suffering a tragic loss in his personal life.

“With Battalion 1944, I’ve found a place where I can focus on something I really love doing,” he said. “Sitting down, reading the forum, and seeing the Battalion 1944 community coming together has been quite something. With the game now close to coming out, there are only good things on the horizon.”

Battalion 1944 will retail at £11.99/€14.99/$14.99, and while the Early Access price is less than the lowest tier on Kickstarter (where the game was successfully funded) Bulkhead will be rewarding backers with unique skins and “multiple cosmetic and vanity-focused loot crates” as a way of compensation.
