Hell Let Loose beta and console release dates revealed

7/9/2021

Hell-Let-Loose

Developers Black Matter and publisher Team 17 have announced the release date for the console version of their realistic WW2 multiplayer title, Hell Let Loose.

@pass_controller

Following a successful transition out of Early Access on PC this summer, Hell Let Loose will make its console debut early next month on current-gen consoles. PS5 users can get a taste of the “authentic and immersive” combat ahead of launch thanks to an open beta this month. The beta, which runs from 16 – 20 September, will allow participants to try the Warfare multiplayer mode on the Hurtgen map.
The full release will feature cross-play between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, along with two multiplayer modes. There’s the aforementioned Warfare, which sees two teams of 50 battling it out for control of a map, and Offensive, where one team takes on the role of attacker while the other plays defender.

Hell Let Loose will feature 10 maps in total based on the Western Front, including two inspired by the Omaha and Utah beach landings and a Carentan map that’s said to feature “brutal house-to-house, street-to-street urban fighting.”

Two new maps based on the War’s Eastern Front, Stalingrad and Kursk, along with playable Soviet forces, will be added to the console version of the game as part of a free winter update having previously launched on PC.

Here’s an overview of the game’s key features:

  • The brutality of the War in Europe: Hell Let Loose portrays the battles of the Western Front across two distinct modes, Offensive and Warfare.
  • Authentic strategic gameplay: Each side of 50 players is broken down into armour, infantry, and recon, led by officers with a direct line to an overall player-commander directing the flow of the game.
  • Unique metagame: Extended battles entrench participants in the tidal-like motion of the frontline that builds up Hell Let Loose’s real-time strategy inspired metagame.
  • Playing a part: Fourteen roles are available for players to experience, from engineers and snipers, to commanders and tank crewmen, medics and support; all play a part in the war effort.

Hell Let Loose is out 5 October, 2021 on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 and is currently available on PC via Steam. Those who pre-order the console version will unlock The Silver Vanguard cosmetic pack.

Science fiction Zelda-like, XEL, coming to PC and consoles

XEL

Developer Tiny Roar and publisher Assemble Entertainment are bringing their sci-fi adventure title, XEL, to PC and consoles next year.

@pass_controller

XEL is described as a “vibrant sci-fi Zelda-like”, blending colourful biomes and a futuristic setting with a top-down perspective, intricate puzzles, “mysterious dungeons”, and an explorable overworld connecting it all. Players must help Reid, the game’s amnesiac protagonist, solve the mystery of the world she crash landed on that’s “filled with secrets, puzzles, and a not-so-stable sense of time”.
Along the way, players will be able to meet “charming, enduring” characters and utilise a variety of upgradable weapons and items to take on “merciless robots and exotic wildlife”. Reid will even be able to manipulate space and time in order to reach new areas and solve puzzles.

Here’s an overview of the game’s key features:

  • Sci-fi Dungeon Diving: The world of XEL features a vast, extensive overworld and challenging, Zelda-like dungeons to explore.
  • A Deep Combat System: Become proficient at using a variety of attacks and combos, while dodging and parrying to tackle and take out foes.
  • Gadgets & Guns: Master and upgrade your weapons, shield and gadgets to smash your foes and open up new areas to explore.
  • Deep Lore and a Deeper Mystery: What exactly happened to this world, and who is responsible? Piece together a captivating story and dive into the legends behind the cryptic history.
  • Spacetime? Not a Problem: Unlock special abilities that allow Reid to bend the rules of space and time, granting her access to previously impassable areas and opening up new ways to defeat difficult enemies.

There’s no solid release date or platform info just yet, with XEL said to be coming to PC and consoles sometime in 2022.

What do you think of the game? Let us know below or in the forums.
