DIRT 5 trailer showcases Stampede track gameplay

30/7/2020

DIRT-5

Codemasters have released a new video for their upcoming off-road racer, DIRT 5, that shows off one of the game’s stampede tracks.

Stampede tracks are made from “hard, unforgiving natural landscapes” on which up to 12 players race around in “rough-and-ready machines with suspension and shock absorbers galore.” In the video below, we get to see the Jimco Unlimited Truck taking on a stampede track set within the iconic Arizona buttes, and also get a glimpse of the game’s dynamic weather system at work.
"Stampede features rough terrain and the opportunity for vehicles to get airborne with jumps dotted throughout each circuit. Perfect for unlimited trucks and buggies, the action intensifies with 12 cars all battling for victory so players will need to get their elbows out and hold their nerve,” said Development Director Robert Karp.

DIRT 5 is out 9 October on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Those who purchase a console edition will get a free upgrade to the XSX and PS5 versions when they are released later this year. A Stadia version is also arriving sometime in 2021.

The Falconeer, an open-world air combat RPG in which players pilot a giant, weaponised bird, is said to feature “frenetic” aerial dog fights and “deep exploration” of the game’s mysterious world, The Great Ursee. The game, which was developed by the aforementioned Sala, will feature 4K resolution and 60 FPS gameplay.
It’ll also make use of Xbox’s Smart Delivery system, meaning players who purchase either the physical or digital version of the game on Xbox One will be able to play it on XSX at no extra cost, with all progress carrying over to the new platform.

“Having worked closely with the Xbox team over the past year, The Falconeer has found a natural home on the Series X,” said Leo Zullo, Managing Director, Wired Productions.

“It’s a technological marvel that, coupled with Tomas’ passion and genius, constantly astounds us. With Smart  Delivery, we’re ensuring fans get the best version of The Falconeer on any Xbox at no extra cost.”

The Facloneer is out sometime this winter on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC via Steam.

A special Day One Edition is currently available to pre-order for £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99, and includes a reversible sleeve, lenticular card, stickers, and digital editions of the game’s soundtrack and guide.

You could win an insane adventure game on Steam in our Paradigm giveaway.

The eponymous Paradigm (that fella with the lumpy head up there) is an alien with an Eastern European accent and anxiety issues. That's understandable, what with with an evil genetics company looking to dissect him! He has plenty of oddball friends to keep him sane, though - one of which is a sloth that sicks up candy...

If you haven't already figured it out, Paradigm is incredibly strange. It's a classic-style adventure game with hysterical characters and dialogue, accompanied by some obtuse puzzles. Should you get stuck on any of them, you can always chat to Paradigm's tumour for a hint.

Wanna get weird? Then enter via Gleam below for your chance to win Paradigm on Steam. You can also purchase a copy for £10.99.

Good luck!

Ghost Recon Breakpoint getting AI squad mates today

15/7/2020

Ghost-Recon-Breakpoint

Ubisoft are releasing an update today that adds the much-requested AI squad members to Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

by Liam Andrews
Picture

@pass_controller

The AI soldiers can be activated and deactivated via an in-game menu during solo sessions (they’re automatically disabled for coop sessions) and become available to all players after they have completed the game’s opening missions and left the Erewhon camp for the first time. Breakpoint’s raid, Project Titan, will not support AI teammates either, Ubisoft confirmed.
Fury, Fixit and Vasily, as your new teammates are known, are all fully customisable, with players able to pick the gender, face, outfits and tattoos and other markings via the squad customisation tab.

Players will also be able to customise one of their AI partners’ two weapon slots, providing they have the correct weapon blueprint. The secondary weapon will always be a standard ASR to ensure they can still pull off sync shots.

It sounds like the new team will mostly behave in a similar way to the one found in Breakpoint’s predecessor, Ghost Recon Wildlands, with players able to order them to attack, hold, go to and regroup. AI squad members will also try to revive you if you go down.

“We are very happy to release AI Teammates, and we know that expectations are high!” Said Director Elie Benhamou.

“We did our best to include them into the game and world of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, focusing our efforts on enhancing the combat experience, as well as bringing a whole new layer of customization for your role-play activities!”

Ghost Recon Breakpoint
is currently available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Are you glad to see the return of AI teammates? Sound off below.

F1 2020 Beginner’s Guide showcases helpful tips and features for new drivers

9/7/2020

F1-2020

Codemasters have shared a video for their newly released F1 2020 title that aims to help new drivers ease into the simulated world of Formula 1 racing.

 by Liam Andrews
Picture

@pass_controller

The video, which you can see below, shows off some of the game’s race styles and their benefits players are able to choose from. Picking the causal race style, for example, enables steering assist to help you hit race lines, and also makes off-track surfaces easier to drive on so you spin out less often. Elsewhere in the video we see how to successfully perform overtakes, and also how to handle wet weather.
Codemasters have also included a Track Acclimatisation feature that allows players to get used to a circuit’s nuances ahead of a Career, My Team or Weekly Event race.

This mode gives players a solo run at a new course, and marks corners with a series of three ‘gates’ that they must hit in order to make sure they’re taking a corner correctly. The more gates players hit, the more points they rack up.

F1 2020
is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Stadia.

Are you new to the series? Did you find these tips helpful? Let us know below.

Earth-Defence-Force-World-Brothers

D3PUBLISHER have announced a new Earth Defense Force that’s coming to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 sometime next year.

by Liam Andrews

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers features a new family-friendly “voxel-art” visual style made up of blocky, Lego-like textures. Set in a parallel universe, World Brothers sees up to four players teaming up to help save Voxel Earth from an invading army of giant alien creatures. Both enemies and playable characters will feature icons from throughout the series’ history, all reimagined in a voxel-style.
Players will be able to mix and match their team to “maximize each of their abilities to lay waste on their enemies,” with fights taking place across multiple “landmark battlefields” inspired by locations such as America, the UK, Japan and Egypt.

Earth Defense Force: World Brothers is due to launch sometime in early 2021 and will be available on both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 via their respective digital stores.

Mafia: Definitive Edition release date delayed

7/7/2020

Mafia-Definitive-Edition

2K have delayed the release of their Mafia remaster due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the publisher has announced.

by Liam Andrews
Picture

@pass_controller

Originally scheduled to release on 28 August, the remake, which has been “rebuilt from the ground up” for today’s gaming machines, will now be released 25 September. The game will be available to purchase on its own or as part of the Mafia: Trilogy, which includes the Definitive Editions of Mafia 2 and Mafia 3. The delay is down to complications caused by the current pandemic.
“Though we’d originally planned to release the game one month earlier on August 28, finalizing everything in time for that launch date has become increasingly challenging due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, and the last thing we want to do is compromise the quality of the experience,” read a statement from the publisher.

“From the beginning, this has been a passion project for us. Many of our developers helped create the original Mafia, and all of us are committed to crafting an updated experience worthy of that timeless classic. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make Mafia: Definitive Edition the very best it can be for all of our fans worldwide.”

To help tide fans over until the game’s launch later this year, an extended gameplay trailer will be released on 22 July.

Mafia: Definitive Edition is out 25 September on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
