We’re giving away a Steam key for Crytek's gorgeous brawler, Ryse: Son of Rome, this week.

When we say gorgeous, we do mean gorgeous, as despite having launched in 2013 alongside the Xbox One, Ryse is still near the pinnacle of the industry in the looks department. What’s more, the gameplay is pretty fun to boot!

If you aren’t randomly picked as our lucky winner, Ryse is available for £14.99 from Steam, though you could save yourself a few quid and support Pass the Controller in the process by purchasing at £10.99 with our partner CD Keys.

The giveaway runs Monday through Friday and can be entered below.

Good luck!

by Chris Brand

@pass_controller

The development team at Ubisoft Montreal don't have a date for us just yet, but stress that enhancing peer-to-peer stability and matchmaking remain priorities.

New season updates will be arriving in 2017, the first in August and another in November. The new seasons will introduce gameplay adjustments and add new content, such as heroes, maps and gear variations. Season Pass owners will receive early access to the new heroes upon release.
Competitive play with a duel tournament feature, ranked 4v4 matches and a brand new 4v4 PvP game mode will be added in the coming months, as well as a "more robust" training mode for players to hone their skills.

On top of these features, balancing tweaks and other quality of life improvements will make their way to For Honor after being tested via public test environments on PC, which has already begun.

Looking forward to some new content? Share your thoughts with us over in the forums or leave a comment below.

The game will also support Xbox One X when it launches on 7 November, featuring a number of visual and performance upgrades on Microsoft’s upcoming console, such as 4K support and increased shadow-fade-out distance. There’s also customised Mixer support for streamers to look forward to.

Let's Play Sunset Overdrive | Episode 3

21/7/2017

Picture

Behold ye mortals! We have returned to bring you more coop gameplay action in the third episode of our incredibly varied Let's Play series.
This week Gabriella and James are trying out the general mayhem of Sunset Overdrive, a slightly long in the tooth but highly underrated Xbox One exclusive from a few years back, and developed by none other than Insomniac Games, the gang who are now using the smarts they picked up beating this game into shape to create the new Spider-Man game for Sony.

Have a look at the complete episode below, in which we are - as usual - quite incompetent when it comes to dispatching evil nasties, who in this game are just people who drank too much orange soda...I mean Overcharge.

If you enjoy it, please like and subscribe and comment and all those nice things, so that we can continue exploring new titles for you from the Xbox Game Pass catalogue.
You can also watch the entire series so far with our handy playlist.

Sine Mora EX coming to PC and consoles

21/7/2017

Picture

THQ Nordic have unveiled a trailer for Sine Mora EX, a remastered version of the original title.

by Chris Brand
Picture

@pass_controller

Sine Mora is a side-scrolling shoot'em up in which time is your ultimate enemy. The game eschews a traditional health mechanic and instead grants a certain amount of time to complete each level. Taking damage will momentarily speed up the clock, whilst eliminating enemies will refund some of your lost seconds and increase the timer.
The graphics have been updated since its first outing in 2012, and there are a few new features that have been added:

  • Engrossing story integrated seamlessly into the action to elevate the user experience
  • Unique, time extension based gameplay
  • 7 beautifully crafted, diverse stages
  • Over 50 different weapon combinations with time manipulating devices
  • Great accessibility - Story Mode is tailored to not scare away absolute newcomers to the genre
  • Risk and reward - multiple difficulty levels in Arcade Mode with deep scoring and hidden rank system for the more experienced players
  • Music composed by Akira Yamaoka
  • Featuring boss designs by Mahiro Maeda
  • 16:9 Aspect ratio (instead of 16:10 which is still an option)
  • Full English voice overs (original Hungarian ones are still available as an option)
  • Local co-op for up to 2 players in Story Mode
  • 3 new versus modes: Race, Tanks, Dodgeball
  • New challenge levels
  • Improved Rendering
  • PS4 Pro and PC players will see the game run in native 4K at 60 FPS.

Sine Mora EX
releases 8 August on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. A Switch version will be coming later this summer.

Are you a fan of the genre? Looking to pick this up? Let us know below or over in the forums.
