The company, best known for their videogame key marketplace, are branching further into the world of game development with their WW2 based virtual reality title, Blunt Force.
The game will feature two simultaneous story lines set before and during the events of the Second World War, with action switching between the two during play. Peacetime gameplay will focus on finding hidden clues and secret information, while players will be able to gun-down enemies during the wartime sections. The wartime gameplay will have two difficulty modes, arcade and challenge, catering to both new and experienced VR users.
Arcade mode features simplified shooting mechanics, while those found in challenge mode will be more complex, including having to manually reload weapons and more challenging AI. G2A do have some previous experience in the world of virtual reality development thanks to their G2A Land project which released last year, but this will be their first full length game. Blunt Force will be released episodically, starting in 2017. Share your thoughts on G2A’s full foray into the world of game development with us over in the forums or in the comments below. ‘Tis the season for game developers everywhere to celebrate this most festive of times with special in-game content, and The Coalition are getting in on the act with their Gearsmas event.
Gearsmas Packs will cost 400 Credits and contain one Bounty and two items from the seasonal content listed below:
There will also be a special playlist called Snowball Fight, in which players hurl deadly snowballs at eachother with Snowshots, and Crossplay Versus makes a return allowing both Xbox One and PC players to team up together in Social game modes. Both playlists will offer 1.5 XP for the duration of Gearsmas. Share your thoughts on the Gears of War 4 seasonal update with us over in the forums or in the comments below. The last of Modern Warfare’s original sixteen multiplayer maps - Bloc, Countdown, Pipeline, Showdown, Strike and Wet Work - will be making their way to the remaster today, courtesy of the Operation Arctic Wolf update. The previously PC exclusive Winter Crash, a seasonal take on the fan favourite map Crash, will also be available on consoles for the first time as part of the update. Players will also be able to unlock the Ugly Sweater and Gift Wrap weapon camos by completing challenges on the map. Customisation options including animated calling cards, weapon customisation pieces and alternate melee weapons can be acquired via supply drops (purchased with either COD Points or Depot Credits in the new Depot area), by crafting them using the game’s Parts currency, or by simply grinding away and unlocking them the old fashioned way.
Although many fans are unhappy with the addition of microtransactions to a game already locked behind Infinite Warfare’s expensive special editions, Raven Software were keen to stress that their presence would not cause any balancing issues and customisation options wouldn’t stray too far from the game’s established aesthetic: “We’re excited to support this great game with new content, beginning today with a ton of new customization items that allow for a level of personalization that wasn’t possible in the original release in 2007.” They stated. “Personalization is a big part of Call of Duty and something we’ve done in the series for a while now that fans really enjoy. But of course, we’ve done it very carefully as our highest priority is to retain the balance, aesthetics and player silhouettes in the game.” Operation Arctic Wolf is available now as a free download.
