Prey 2 was said to have been cancelled by Bethesda almost two years ago, but new rumours have surfaced suggesting the game could be making a comeback. While possible, it’s much more likely any announcement regarding Prey 2 will be made at Bethesda’s own expo, which is being held the Sunday before E3 on 12 June.
Back in 2014, Bethesda’s Pete Hines seemingly ended any future the game might have when he said this: “It wasn’t up to our quality standard and we decided to cancel it. It’s no longer in development. That wasn’t an easy decision, but it’s one that won’t surprise many folks given that we hadn’t been talking about it.” Originally revealed in 2011, Prey 2 was in the works at Human Head before supposedly being passed on to Arkane Austin for further development, something Bethesda denied despite leaked emails suggesting otherwise. Whether the updated domains point to an imminent announcement remains to be seen, but it’s worth noting that Bethesda have already brought one franchise out of development hell with (rather fittingly) id Software’s DOOM reboot. Are we about to see the publisher give Prey 2 the same treatment? Let us know your thoughts over in the forums. Comments are closed.
