The expansion features five additional maps, new heroes Chewbacca and Bossk, Luke’s X-wing and Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced as new hero vehicles, new weapons and Star Cards, plus the game mode Battle Station.
This new mode is made up of three phases featuring aerial and ground combat, culminating in the destruction of the infamous space station.

You can take a look at the Death Star expansion and all its space combat goodness in the launch trailer below:
EA have also detailed a number of updates which will be available for all players after the expansion’s launch. It’s quite a long list, but highlights include:

  • The TIE Interceptor no longer features missiles as an ability. They are instead replaced by a new ability called Laser Barrage, which lets players fire the TIE’s blasters without overheating for a short period of time. Blasters also do more damage while this ability is active.
  • The A-wing Shield ability has been replaced with a Speed Boost ability.
  • New power ups in Fighter Squadron add AI wingmen which fight alongside the player for 60 seconds. Imperial vehicles include TIE Bombers and TIE Defenders, while the Rebels get Y-wings and B-wings.
  • AI TIE Interceptors and A-wings will be added to Fighter Squadron.
  • Max rank increased from 70 to 90.
  • New character outfits including X-wing pilot and Death Star Trooper.

The Death Star expansion is available to Season Pass holders from today, while anyone else looking to purchase it separately will be able to do so in two weeks.
