Animated Castlevania series coming to Netflix

The show’s producer, Adi Shankar, claims "this is very much Castlevania done in the vein of Game of Thrones," and that the series is going to be, "R-rated as f**k."

The first season will be arriving this year and is set to be a four-parter, with each episode being around 30 minutes long. According to Shankar's Facebook page, a second season is planned for 2018.

The official description from Netflix states:

"Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself."

Speaking with IGN, the producer confirmed that the series would be an adaptation of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, but didn't give away any other plot details.

There are no dates for when the series will premiere as of yet.
