Bulkhead Interactive (The Turing Test) have released a new video for their upcoming Xbox One, PS4 and PC shooter, Battalion 1944, that gives us a behind-the-scenes-look at the development process.

Bulkhead’s mission is to recapture the ‘glory days’ of shooters -  including Second World War-set ones like Call of Duty 2 - particularly the visceral, fast paced competitive multiplayer of such titles. The new video gives us a look at how the game has progressed over the past few months, and also hints at a release date, which is said to be “not long” after the worldwide reveal trailer launches on 9 January.
“Throughout development it’s been so important for us to study every element of World War II,” said Howard Philpott, Creative Producer at Bulkhead Interactive.

“The main thing for us is to really understand the brutality and the visceral nature of the Second World War. We’ve been working so damn hard just to make sure we can capture the intensity of these weapons, and making that translate to a mouse and keyboard. It’s been a challenge, but I feel like we’ve really nailed it.”

Joe Brammer, Executive Producer and Director at Bulkhead Interactive, also talks in the video of how working on the game has had a positive influence on him after suffering a tragic loss in his personal life.

“With Battalion 1944, I’ve found a place where I can focus on something I really love doing,” he said. “Sitting down, reading the forum, and seeing the Battalion 1944 community coming together has been quite something. With the game now close to coming out, there are only good things on the horizon.”

Battalion 1944 will retail at £11.99/€14.99/$14.99, and while the Early Access price is less than the lowest tier on Kickstarter (where the game was successfully funded) Bulkhead will be rewarding backers with unique skins and “multiple cosmetic and vanity-focused loot crates” as a way of compensation.
