Conan Exiles hits Xbox Preview Program later this month, free expansion coming to Xbox and PC

Funcom's open world survival game will be available via the Xbox Preview Program from 16 August as it enters the second stage of early access with a free expansion.

The expansion, The Frozen North, releases the same day and takes players away from the arid desert and thrusts them into an entirely new climate, requiring you to dress appropriately to survive. It also adds a whopping 70% extra landmass and more features, content and improvements.

New gameplay mechanics will be introduced, including fish traps, beekeeping, cooking and brewing. The latter allows for the production of alcohol which can help players keep warm in freezing environments.

Players will get the chance to dedicate themselves to a new religion, gaining the ability to summon Ymir, the Lord of Storm and War.

“This expansion update does not just mean more content and more features,” stated Creative Director Joel Bylos. “The team has also worked extremely hard to make sure this release brings with it significant improvements to core aspects of the game such as combat, artificial intelligence, and more.

These improvements, in addition to the twenty-eight updates we have already introduced to the game over its six months in PC Early Access, mean this version of Conan Exiles is bigger, and even more importantly, better than ever before.”

Conan Exiles is available as an early access title on PC now and The Frozen North expansion releases 16 August.
