Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has a release date

Crash Bandicoot will be returning to PlayStation later this year, and Activision have unveiled the release date via a new video.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy features remasters of the first three titles; Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes Back, and Warped. The games were first released on the original PlayStation back in 1996, 1997 and 1998, respectively, and were met with critical acclaim.

Vicarious Visions are the team behind the trilogy and say that the biggest question they are asked is, “Is this a remaster or a remake?”

Their response is that it's not so straightforward:

"It's practically impossible to make a traditional remaster of the original Naughty Dog games. They're roughly 20 years old, and technology has advanced significantly in that time. The original code and assets are nearly unusable. Nearly.

"But we don't consider this a remake. We know how much you all love the original games, so we didn't want to fully remake them. The N. Sane Trilogy is a remaster-plus."

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy launches on PS4 on 30 June.
