Create your own peripherals with Nintendo Labo

18/1/2018

Nintendo Labo lets you create cars, robots fishing rods and pianos as a new way of interacting with the console.

Yesterday Nintendo unveiled their latest innovative creation, which allows you to interact with Switch in unique ways.

Players will build the affectionately titled Toy-Cons using cardboard, whilst instructional videos are followed via Switch. Some builds look more complex than others but that's part of the fun. The Joy-Cons, or the Switch itself, are slotted in during construction and transform the console and controllers into a real world toy or fancy peripheral.
The Nintendo Labo Variety Kit includes everything you need to build a remote controlled car, a fishing rod, a house, a motorbike and a piano, along with a Nintendo Switch game card containing software for use with the kit.

There hasn't been many details shown about the Robot Kit as of yet but you can see some of the possibilities in the video below.
The Variety Kit will set you back £59.99 whilst the Robot Kit is a little steeper at £69.99.

There's also a customisation set which includes coloured tape, stencils and stickers. That will run you £8.99.

Both kits launch on 27 April.

Keep an eye on the official site for more details.

What do you think of Nintendo Labo? Should Nintendo be applauded for thinking outside of the box or chastised for making a piano out of it? Share your thoughts with us below or over in the forums.
