Cross-platform features coming to PS4, starting with a Fortnite beta

Sony have announced their plans to enable cross-play for "select third party content", wasting no time getting started with the release of an extended Fortnite beta.

John Kodera, President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, took to the PlayStation blog to thank the community for their continued patience and share some details about the new initiative.

The Fortnite beta will allow "cross platform gameplay, progression and commerce across PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, and Mac operating systems."

He went on to state that this is the first step to opening up the platform for other titles and promised to enlighten us further on the specifics regarding the beta in due time.
