Bethesda and id Software have released a new update that shakes up DOOM’s multiplayer. Hack Modules, which applied temporary bonuses once activated, have been dumped in favour of a new Runes System, which add persistent abilities more in line with standard multiplayer perk systems. The game’s UI has been tweaked, meaning it’ll now be easier to see who killed you, and what loadout they were using when they did it.
Bethesda have also changed how players level up and unlock new items. Instead of relying on the previous random unlock system, players will now unlock equipment via specific levelling requirements or through challenges, making it easier to target a certain piece of equipment you’re after. Introducing the new system means everyone’s multiplayer levels are getting reset, but veteran players will have the opportunity to keep hold of all their previously unlocked gear should they wish to do so. Bethesda will also be rewarding players who have been around from the beginning with special badges. Those who have yet to sample Bethesda’s DOOM reboot can do so this month thanks to a couple of free weekends. Xbox One and PC players can go hands on with the game’s multiplayer and opening two campaign missions from today, with PS4 players able to do the same when their free weekend kicks off next Thursday 27 July. The game will be on sale during those times at the discounted price of $14.99(US)/£11.99(UK)/$17.99(AUS). What do you think of DOOM’s new multiplayer system? Let us know below. Leave a Reply. |
