Deep Silver and 5 Lives Studios (Satellite Reign) have announced Windbound, a new survival-adventure title launching on PC and consoles later this year.

Windbound follows the story of Kara, a young woman who’s been shipwrecked on an unknown land. Rather than staying in one spot, the game focuses on “nomadic hunting and exploration,” with players able to build custom boats and discover a series of procedurally-generated islands, each with their own “diverse wildlife.” As you can see in the video below, Windbound features colourful visuals and what looks like a Breath of the Wild-inspired glider.

Resources in Windbound are scavenged from the land and local fauna, but with finite supplies on each island, players will have to brave “tempestuous winds, monstrous waves, and deadly sea creatures” in order to seek out untapped environments.

​While exploring further islands, it sounds like we’ll occasionally come across mysterious scattered ruins that are said to offer up “more than just your way home.”

Windbound is out 28 August on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC.
