Fallout 76 Wastelanders update is live, finally introducing human NPCs

Bethesda have rolled out the Wastelanders update for Fallout 76 that adds, among other things, the very first human NPCs to the game.

The free update, which was originally scheduled for launch towards the end of last year, introduces much-requested human NPCs to compliment the cast of robotic quest givers and the game’s accommodating online player base. Arriving alongside Appalachia’s newest residents are quests, dialogue options and a reputation system. Players can choose to back either The Raiders or The Settlers in a new main campaign, with the decisions they make affecting their standing with each side.

Also included in the update are new enemy types, weapons and armour, plus human allies; a special type of human NPC “that will bring more life to player C.A.M.P.s and offer activities to take part in daily.”

​Two new events – Riding Shotgun and Radiation Rumble – are also being added, which see players protecting a caravan and fending off onslaughts of irradiated creatures, offering up “unique challenges” to those taking them on.

The update is available now as a free download for those who own Fallout 76 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
