Is Duke Nukem set to make a return?

Gearbox Software, who currently own the rights to the franchise, are holding a panel at PAX West on the day that the timer on the website is up. Coincidentally (or not), the panel is scheduled to end just 30 short minutes before the countdown hits zero. ​

Since the teaser went live speculation has ramped up. The official Duke Nukem Facebook page sprang to life, posting for the first time in four years to inform fans that Duke is now on Twitter (Warning: his tweets are not exactly family friendly).

Furthermore, Reddit user Tezla55 posted a thread claiming to have been leaked a few details about a new Duke Nukem title. Supposedly, the game is called Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour and is being developed by Nerve Software.

He also shared some screenshots which you can find below:

The leaker had the following to say on the screenshots:

"These are official. This is a Duke 3D remaster. In many ways, you can look at this game as a Duke Nukem 3D remix as there will be a lot of new/original content added in as well. From my understanding, these screens are just a handful out of a bunch of press shots that will be coming out in the following days."

If he’s to be believed, the project could go a long way to redeeming 2011’s Duke Nukem Forever.

Tezla55 further claims:

"They also said that there will be both co-op as well as deathmatch online although they are not 100% sure on it."
