The gang have promised "a faithful reboot", with many improvements and overhauls. Their aim is to capture the spirit of the original game and bring it to a modern audience.
If successful, the game will feature re-imagined enemies, weapons and locations, designed by Robb Waters, concept artist on the original System Shock.

Terri Brosius will be reprising her role as the evil AI, SHODAN, and a new voice over will be recorded.

Expect the UI to be improved, along with certain game mechanics and puzzles, to give the whole package a more up to date feel whilst still remaining true to the original.

There's an accomplished team working on the remake with a pretty impressive  C.V. Past games include a few Fallout
titles, Skyrim, Bioshock and Infinite, World of Warcraft and, of course, System Shock.

Take a gander at the pre-alpha trailer to see what Nightdive have been up to:
If you like the look of it so far and have some spare change lying around, you can head on over to Kickstarter to show your appreciation.

The remake will be available initially on Xbox One and on PC through Steam, Humble and GOG (DRM free), with OSX and Linux versions unlocked if the first stretch goal of $1.1 million dollars is met.

There’s no plans to bring the System Shock remake to PlayStation 4 just yet, but Nightdive do state on the campaign’s FAQ page they are open to bringing the game to other platforms in the future.
