Microsoft announce new monthly subscription service, Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft have revealed plans to introduce an EA Access-like subscription service of their very own, giving subscribers “unlimited access” to more than 100 titles for $9.99 per month.

The new service launches sometime this spring, and includes Xbox One and backwards compatible Xbox 360 titles. Phil Spencer confirmed that Halo 5: Guardians, Payday 2, NBA 2K16 and SoulCalibur II will be just some of the titles available when the service launches, but from the image above we can also assume that Fable III, Lego Batman, Saints Row IV, Gears of War Ultimate Edition, Terreria and Mad Max will also be present at some point.

According to Spencer, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will be able to “discover and download the full titles directly on your Xbox One. That means continuous, full-fidelity gameplay without having to worry about streaming, bandwidth or connectivity issues.”
 
Subscribers can purchase all games in the Xbox Game Pass library at a 20% discount, while their add-ons will receive a 10% price drop. More games will be added every month, with some being cycled out to provide subscribers with a “constantly-updating library of games.”
 
An alpha version of Xbox Game Pass will begin rolling out to select members of the Xbox Insider Program today with a limited number of titles available. The service will initially be exclusive to Xbox Live Gold members when it launches later this spring, before being made available to the “broader community.”
