Microsoft to skip Gamescom press conference in favour of fan event

Writing on Xbox wire, Aaron Greenberg, General Manager of Xbox Games Marketing, confirmed that whilst there would be no Xbox briefing at this year’s Gamescom, they’ll still be in attendance for a more intimate Xbox FanFest event.

Fans will have the opportunity to go hands-on with exclusive AAA titles like Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Halo Wars 2, ReCore and Sea of Thieves, as well as a host of indie games including We Happy Few, Everspace and Cuphead.

Greenberg also stated that more info’s on the way soon, so keep your eyes peeled.

Sony declined to hold a press conference at last year's Gamescom, opting to put on a separate event at Paris Games Week shortly after. It's not yet known whether PlayStation will have a presence in Cologne, but given the absence of any news about the NEO during their E3 showing, we could see an official reveal very soon.

Gamescom kicks off 16 August, we'll keep you up-to-date with any news.
