News round-up for the week of 23 May30/5/2016 A big update is hitting GTA Online on 7 June. "Acquire a high-rise office and special warehouse properties to begin buying and selling a range of contraband across the city, all the while fighting the LSPD and the rest of the southern San Andreas criminal underworld for access to the rarest items and the biggest profits." There'll be new gameplay elements, features, and of course, vehicles; one of which is the slick looking Pegasi Reaper, pictured below. More details and an official trailer will be released next week. Indie space exploration title, No Man's Sky has been delayed. Sean Murray, founder of Hello Games, confirmed the rumours via the PlayStation blog. After a short delay, No Man's Sky will launch in the UK on 12 August. Despite the delay, Murray states that "development is genuinely going well". Given that the game will have over a whopping 18 quintillion planets to explore, it's hardly surprising that the team want a little more time. Some new mini-games will be making their way to console editions of Minecraft. The first of these, named Battle, is coming in June. Battle allows you set up a competitive multiplayer fight. Players will use randomly generated resources found in chests placed in specially designed PvP maps and combat one another in a free for all deathmatch. Defeated players can fly around freely as a bat, watching the action. Matches can be played with four players in split-screen, or eight via Xbox Live. There'll also be a matchmaking system. The update will arrive on consoles next month with three free maps. Additional maps and add-ons will be released periodically and cost the equivalent of $2.99. Mighty No. 9 has caused quite a stir with its new trailer. Whilst some are disappointed that the game looks subpar, many more have taken a keen dislike to the narrator. Aside from his insistence that Mighty No. 9 is awesome, because he said so, there's also a dig at anime fans. If you were to read a few of the top comments on YouTube (not something we’d usually recommend), you’d be lucky to find something positive. Takuya Aizu, CEO of Inti Creates, took to Twitter to share his disgust. Even the official Sonic the Hedgehog account had a go! Would you like to see the trailer? Go on then. New trailer and pre-order bonuses have been revealed for Ghost Recon Wildlands. 'We Are Ghosts' follows a four man spec ops team travelling through Bolivia in a variety of vehicles. It also shows the different landscapes you'll traverse, a few weapons and one or two meaty explosions. There are three special editions available to pre-order, details of which can be found at the Ubisoft store. All pre-orders come with a bonus mission, ‘The Peruvian Connection’. Expect more details to come during E3. F1 2016 will feature a massive career mode spanning up to ten seasons, the Baku, Azerbaijan street circuit, and - a first for the series - the safety car and virtual safety car. Principal Game Designer, Lee Mather, stated on the Codemasters blog: "F1 2016 is a massive step forward for the franchise. The new career mode sits at the heart of the game and allows gamers to create their own legend over a career that can span for up to a massive ten seasons. Beyond improving upon the fastest and most thrilling on-track racing experience in gaming, F1 2016 uniquely offers the drama and vehicle development that goes on behind the scenes. A rich car upgrade system is fully integrated into a new and deep practice development programme which mirrors the tests carried out by the teams in real life.” For those who were disappointed by last year's outing, maybe these new screens will assuage your fears. If you’re still not convinced, sign up for the beta and you could get a chance to try it out.
F1 2016 is due to release this summer on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Let us know your thoughts on the week’s news over in the forums. Comments are closed.
