News of the new console’s release date was revealed via Nintendo's 2016 fiscal year earnings report, which read: This was again confirmed by a tweet from the official Nintendo of America Twitter account. No other details about the NX or this brand new concept have been released. Nintendo also announced that the upcoming Legend Of Zelda has been pushed back until 2017 and will release on Wii U and NX simultaneously. Nintendo have stated that Legend of Zelda will be the company's only playable title at this year's E3, "in order to provide attendees a complete immersion." Unfortunately the NX will not be making an appearance at the expo. Following the positive reception of the Miitomo app, Nintendo's next two apps will be based on the popular Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing franchises. With the Fire Emblem app, Nintendo are looking to make it more accessible in comparison to the Fire Emblem titles available on their gaming machines, whilst still offering the great value of a role-playing strategy game.
The Animal Crossing app will be designed so it will be connected with the world of Animal Crossing on consoles and, according to Nintendo, both these titles will be “pure game applications”. We should have more details about these apps closer to their planned launch in autumn, and we'll keep you updated on any new NX info. Are you excited about the news?
