A number of sources close to Eurogamer are saying Nintendo’s next console, the Switch, will support GameCube games via its Virtual Console service. GameCube Virtual Console support is apparently being handled by the team behind the recently released NES Classic Edition, Nintendo European Research and Development, or NERD.
According to Eurogamer, Nintendo are also looking into Switch support for the Wii U’s GameCube controller adaptor, although they say the company are uncertain whether they will go ahead with this plan. All this remains unconfirmed while Nintendo stay silent on the matter, but we’re getting closer to that January reveal event where we should know for certain whether the Switch will indeed feature GameCube Virtual Console support ahead of the console’s release in March 2017.
