Nintendo to showcase Mario and Metroid at Gamescom 2017

Two of Nintendo's most anticipated games will be on show at this year's event and attendees will be able to go hands-on with a range of titles for both Switch and 3DS.

First up is Super Mario Odyssey. The presentation starts at 14:00 BST on 23 August and offers a fresh look at gameplay with a developer talk from producer, Yoshiaki Koizumi. Those in attendance will be able to try out the Metro Kingdom and Sand Kingdom before the game's release on 27 October.

On 24 August at 11:00 BST, Metroid: Samus Returns enters the limelight. Producer, Yoshio Sakamoto, and José Luis Márquez, creative director of developer MercurySteam (Raiders of the Broken Planet), will take to the stage to share some details on the upcoming 3DS title.

A special Nintendo 3DS XL Samus Edition releases alongside the game on 15 September.

Live presentations will also give detailed looks at previously announced titles for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS, such as Fire Emblem Warriors and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Visitors can get their hands on Switch titles Super Mario Odyssey, Pokken Tournament DX, Fire Emblem Warriors, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, plus the recently released ARMS and Splatoon 2.

Whilst the 3DS games on offer include Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, Monster Hunter Stories and Metroid: Samus Returns.
