Hi-Rez, developers of community favourite MOBA SMITE, are bringing their free-to-play first-person shooter to Xbox One and PS4, and it may seem ever so slightly familiar...
Take a look at the trailer below. There are four character classes in Paladins; Damage, Tank, Support and Flank. Whilst the first three are pretty self explanatory, the Flank class is akin to SMITE's Assassin class, offering high damage output at the cost of health. Characters can be upgraded using cards that are unique to each one. Your Champions will have a basic loadout, but you'll be able to customise and save different variations as you acquire new cards earnt through gameplay. Watch the short card system tutorial below to learn all the ins and outs. Players can also employ the use of items, which are bought while in the spawn area using credits. This works in a similar fashion to SMITE, with credits being awarded for completing tasks, such as killing enemies and capturing objectives.
Another similarity to Hi-Rez Studios' free-to-play MOBA is the inclusion of a Founder's Pack, granting access to all current Champions as well as those released in the future. There's no launch date as of yet, but you can sign up for the closed beta on either Xbox One or PlayStation 4 here. Are you looking forward to Paladins: Champions of the Realm?
