Rebellion are working on an Evil Genius sequel

Rebellion, the studio behind the Sniper Elite series, have announced they have started development on Evil Genius 2.

The game is a direct sequel (and not a remaster, as Rebellion were keen to stress) to the “real-time, lair-management and world-domination simulation” game Evil Genius, which was developed by Elixir for PC back in 2004. The news was announced towards the end of a video interview with Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley, which you can see below.

Development only began in spring, so it’s unlikely we’ll get to see our first look at Rebellion’s sequel anytime soon, but the studio did announce that Evil Genius 2 is being developed with their in-house Asura engine, and will be the first RTS game to be built with it.
 
Rebellion originally planned to run a crowd-funding campaign for a sequel several years ago after acquiring the rights to the franchise, but with the studio busy with becoming its own publisher at the time, and putting resources into in-house projects such as Zombie Army Trilogy and Battlezone for PSVR, the plans were shelved.
