Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice launch date announced, Collector's Edition revealed

FromSoftware's (Dark Souls, Bloodborne) latest project, the eagerly anticipated Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, finally has a solid release date and attendees at this year's Gamescom will be able to go hands-on for the first time.

The lucky few can experience the core combat, utilising special Sword Arts "to supplement their regular attacks, and tear down enemy defenses before sealing the final blow," and try out various tools available to the protagonist, such as the Grappling Hook, thanks to his Shinobi Prosthetic arm. ​

There's also a combat mechanic which allows players to resurrect on the spot, certainly a welcome addition given the development team's history of making challenging games.

Pre-orders are now open, with a Collector's Edition available from select retailers. This includes the full game alongside a few extra goodies:

“Fans will get a taste of the multiple tools available for the prosthetic shinobi arm this week at Gamescom, and will be able to fully dive into the brutal, dark world of 1500s Sengoku Japan when the game launches on 22 March 2019.”

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice releases simultaneously on Xbox One, PS4 and Steam.
